‘XO, Kitty’: Will There Be a Finale Movie? Everything We Know So Far
What To Know
- XO, Kitty Season 3 aired in April 2026.
- Netflix hasn’t renewed the series for Season 4 yet.
- An update about XO, Kitty’s future was shared in July 2026.
XO, Kitty has been building up to Kitty (Anna Cathcart), Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee), and the KISS crew’s graduation for three seasons, but the show’s fate has remained unclear since Season 3 dropped in April 2026. In July, fans got their first update about how (and if) the Netflix series could come to an end.
First, in late May, Cathcart shared that she was as in the dark about the To All the Boys spinoff’s future as fans were. “To be honest, it is such a big question mark right now,” Cathcart told Us Weekly. “We’re not sure if we’re going to get a Season 4 or not. But I think that either way, we’re really proud of Season 3, and it was so fun to get to be back with everybody and shoot again.”
Cathcart said she was still “waiting on the answer” — and according to Deadline, the answer could be a finale movie similar to The Summer I Turned Pretty. Keep reading for everything we know so far about the potential XO, Kitty movie.
Will there be an XO, Kitty finale movie?
It wasn’t totally confirmed quite yet, but on July 17, Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva reported that Paramount Television Studios, XO, Kitty‘s production company, has given Netflix more time to make a renewal decision. They’re reportedly considering several options, including a wrap-up movie or a fourth season “in the same or new setting for Kitty.”
“Additionally, the studio has extended the cast’s options, keeping the actors available should Netflix go for more,” Andreeva wrote.
She added that they’re having ongoing creative conversations. “There had been chatter that series creator Jenny Han, author of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before book trilogy, may be leaning toward a three-season run for XO, Kitty similar to her hit Prime Video series The Summer I Turned Pretty and the three-movie format of To All the Boys.”
What would happen in an XO, Kitty movie?
Season 3 ended with Kitty and Min Ho deciding to be together and embracing the unknown. They were headed from Korea to Kitty’s hometown — Portland, Oregon, where the To All the Boys movies take place — for winter break.
When discussing her hopes for a potential Season 4 with Swooon, Cathcart was eager to see Min Ho meet Kitty’s family on her own turf. “I just think there’s something so intimate of showing someone your hometown,” she said. “To have Min Ho and Kitty sit on the couch that Peter [Noah Centineo] and Lara Jean [Lana Condor] have sat on for all three [To All the Boys] movies, I think, would blow people’s minds, including my own. Like, I think it’d be so special and so nostalgic.”
The actress added, “It’s like, ‘This is where I became me.’ That’s so special. And she knows Min Ho in his world, and he also only knows her in his world. So I think it’d be very big, like a big milestone, to have him in her hometown. And I think it’d be so cute. I want to see it happen.”
After break, Kitty, Min Ho, and their friends would enter their final semester at their Korean boarding school. Kitty got into NYU in Season 3; Min Ho was leaning toward music production, though he was offered a job managing K-pop group SOS 911. If he accepts, he said he’d miss a lot of their final semester together.
Of his Season 4 hopes, Lee told Swooon, “I want to see graduation. I want to see the ceremony. I want to see a prom that shows that it’s been three years. It’s been four years, whatever, like the amount of time that we spent in school, and it’s time to say, ‘Oh, right, there’s more things out there now, but wish you the best of luck.’ That sort of touching moment, really.”
Despite not yet knowing its renewal status, showrunner Valentina Garza told Swooon that there was more ground to cover for the couple. “[Kitty and Min Ho] are at the end of a journey at the end of the season, but they’re absolutely also at the beginning of a journey with all that they’ve learned,” she said. “I think there are so many more [relationship] milestones for them to potentially cover.”
