‘Shatter Me’ Dream Cast: Our Picks for Juliette, Warner, & More
All the 2010s dystopian YA readers, we are so back, at levels we have never been back before. A new Divergent book is coming out, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is about to hit theaters, and now, after over a decade of waiting, Tahereh Mafi’s beloved series Shatter Me is coming to our screens.
Shatter Me follows Juliette Ferrars, a 17-year-old with a lethal touch. Currently imprisoned by The Reestablishment for accidental murder, Juliette’s world is turned upside down when The Reestablishment changes its mind, questioning whether she is more useful outside of bars. As Mafi puts it, “Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.”
On June 16, Variety revealed that Warner Bros. acquired the rights to Shatter Me, and since then, we cannot help but imagine which familiar faces could bring Mafi’s beloved characters to life. After all, we need to know that Aaron Warner will be in good hands.

Rachel Zegler as Juliette Ferrars
Okay, hear us out: Juliette is a complicated character who needs an actress who can go from demure and petrified to a cunning girlboss in under three hours. Looking back into the young leads of YA dystopia past, we realized the answer was right under our nose: Rachel Zegler, best known for playing Lucy Gray Baird in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, would be the perfect Juliette.
Garrett Wareing as Aaron Warner
Aaron Warner is one of the most beloved OG book boyfriends who has yet to come to life on screen, so he too must be left in good hands. Our vote? Ransom Canyon star Garrett Wareing. From his cheeky smirk to his proven yearn-ability, we know that Wareing could take Warner to the next level on all fronts.
Khobe Clarke as Adam Kent
Are we Team Adam? Maybe not. But that doesn’t mean we don’t want to see him shine on screen. For the role of Juliette’s first friend and original love, we’re tapping Off Campus star Khobe Clarke. Ever since Beau Maxwell crossed our screens, everyone knew we would need to see MUCH more of Clarke. Given his talent, this would be the perfect opportunity for casting producers and viewers alike.
Joseph Chiu as Kenji Kishimoto
The stars have truly aligned for finding our perfect Kenji Kishimoto, as the premiere of Every Year After, only six days before the Shatter Me announcement, left him right at our doorstep. It may just be a matter of perfect timing, but everyone is currently fancasting Joseph Chiu as Kenji, Shatter Me‘s ultimate comedic relief, and we can’t help but agree.
Cary Christopher as James Kent
Of course, we can’t have a Shatter Me cast without everyone’s favorite youngster, James Kent. While we’re pretty sure that Warner Bros. would cast an unknown child star for this role, we couldn’t help but envision Cary Christopher from Weapons in the role.
