Kook Paradise often doesn’t last forever. Rafe (Drew Starkey) and Sofia’s (Fiona Palomo) relationship is on solid ground, but could their romance go up in flames if Rafe finds out she was briefly working with Hollis Robinson (Brianna Brown) behind his back? Palomo couldn’t spill much about Outer Banks Season 4 Part 2, but she did reveal how she thinks Rafe would react to this betrayal.

“I think that being already a character who has been betrayed so much by people that he trusted, I think it would be an enormous shock, as it would to anyone, to find out something like that,” Palomo told Swooon. “I think it would be a huge, huge, huge break in him.”

Rafe doesn’t respond well to betrayal. He often reacts impulsively and with reckless abandon. Remember how he murdered Sheriff Peterkin (Adina Porter) and nearly killed his own sister (Madelyn Cline)? In Season 4 so far, Rafe has been trying to live up to what he views as his father’s legacy and has gotten involved in a business deal with the mysterious and seductive Hollis.

Hollis has her eye on Goat Island and looks to Rafe to help her achieve her goals. Hollis worked with Ward (Charles Esten), Rafe’s father, and clearly knows that’s a weak spot for Rafe. Initially, Rafe is skeptical about the deal, so Hollis turns to Sofia. She reaches out to Sofia’s father about a deal. She offers up $25,000 if Sofia can convince Rafe to sign the Goat Island contract.

Sofia rejects the offer at first, but after she overhears Rafe dissing their relationship because she’s a Pogue, Sofia changes her mind. She pushes Rafe to agree to the Goat Island deal. However, she later attempts to course correct, but she’s too late.

It’s unclear how this will all play out in Part 2, but we have a feeling Hollis isn’t afraid to go to great lengths to get what she wants. Rafe and Sofia’s relationship could be on the chopping block if they’re not careful.

Rafe and Sofia’s relationship began in Season 3, and even though he dismisses their relationship in front of Topper (Austin North), their bond has deepened. Palomo and Starkey have a very natural chemistry between them.

“It was honestly really easy with Drew because he’s a fantastic person,” Palomo said about their chemistry. “He’s very generous and caring of his like work and the people around him and professional and was super welcoming to me. It’s really beautiful because we always had the space to be able to sit down and really understand the characters and why they’re saying what they’re saying, down to the smallest detail.”
