Prince Harry Addresses Meghan Markle Divorce Rumors in Rare Interview

Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle, The Duchess of Sussex, have been at the forefront of countless news stories ever since they started dating in 2016. After their wedding and departure from the royal family, the coverage kicked up a notch. Since then, there have been plenty of rumors that not all is well in their marriage.
Prince Harry, who has notably had issues with the press, explained in a rare interview what’s going on in his personal life at The New York Times’ 2024 DealBook Summit. King Charles III‘s youngest son didn’t hold back.
Shutting down the idea that his marriage is on the rocks, the Spare author did reveal that the constant attention on the couple is “definitely not a good thing.” When asked about the nature of the press’ constant inquiry into their relationship, Prince Harry responded with, “Apparently we’ve bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?’”
He explained that although there’s nothing to worry about in his union with the Suits alum, he does have some deep-rooted trauma and skepticism when it comes to the nature of news.
“I’ve had a lived experience since I was a kid. I’ve seen stories written about myself that aren’t exactly based on reality. I’ve seen stories about members of my family, friends, strangers, all sorts of people,” the royal shared. “And I think when you grow up within that environment, you do find yourself questioning the validity of the information but also what other people are thinking of that as well, and how dangerous it can be over the course of time.”
Keeping the tone light during most of the interview, he clapped back at trolls by stating that he “feels sorry” for them. “It’s hard to keep up with, but that’s why you just sort of ignore it. The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls,” he continued. “Their hopes are just built and built, and it’s like, “Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,” and then it doesn’t happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do.”
The son of King Charles and Princess Diana emphasized that over time online rumors can become “dangerous.” Then, he also warned interviewer Andrew Ross Sorkin that even the interview they were having could also be misinterpreted. He said that their conversation “will be spun or twisted somehow against me, and maybe you yourself will be trolled relentlessly.”
Prince Harry playfully said, “For that, I can only apologize, but you did invite me, so it’s not my fault.”
The current speculation that things might not be fine in their marriage came after Markle and Prince Harry, who married in 2018 and share two kids, were seen attending several events solo in recent weeks.
It started on October 5 when Markle was a guest at The Children’s Hospital Gala. Quickly after on November 14, she was seen attending the launch of her friend Kadi Lee and Myka Harris’ Highbrow Hippie haircare line and was spotted dancing without her spouse.
Prince Harry has had multiple ventures without his significant other, like the summit and an upcoming gig as the host of a charity event. He is a Global Ambassador for Scotty’s Little Soldiers.
