Original ‘Bachelorette’ Couple Trista & Ryan Sutter Celebrate 21st Wedding Anniversary
The Bachelorette has chronicled many love stories over its 21-season run, and the first one to come out of the spinoff is still happily in love.
ABC brought Trista and Ryan Sutter‘s journey to everlasting love to TV in 2003, that same year the two tied the knot. The couple married on December 6, 2003, which was broadcast in a three-part special. Both spouses took to Instagram to celebrate their over two-decades-long marriage.
Trista reminisced with a photo of their wedding, “It was Dec. 6, 2003 and I didn’t think I could be any happier,” she began. “As I look back to that incredibly special day, I recognize that I was in fact, insanely happy. Definitely the happiest I had ever been.”
Looking back on the 20-plus years she’s been with Ryan, life has only gotten better. “Throw a life woven together over 21 years with babies and fur babies, peaks and valleys, love and lots and lots of laughter – and I know a different happiness. A true, solid, faithful, happiness where I feel seen, known and deeply loved,” she continued.

Their daughter, Blake, 15, was quick to head to the comments to support their parents’ longtime love. “Best parents,” she wrote. The two also have a son, Max, 17.
Ryan honored their current era with a current black-and-white snapshot. “I struggle to find new words to describe how much I love you or new ways to express how much you mean to me. It’s difficult to explain but so easy to feel,” he said.
“You make it so easy to feel so good, so happy, so much joy and gratitude and peace within. Not much about life is easy anymore, not much except loving you…. And I do and I have and I will – for every second since I said I do….”

The couple raised eyebrows earlier this year when the former NFL player headed to social media to explain that he missed his wife. While many worried that something had happened to the original Bachelorette couple, the franchise’s first leading lady was away filming Season 3 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
This news was revealed on November 15 when Trista jokingly stated, “Was it a divorce/nervous breakdown/mid-life crisis/death/trial separation back in May?! Not unless that’s what you call Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, season 3!”
