Is Josie Totah Really Dating Her ‘Jessie’ Costar Karan Brar? The Truth Revealed
Josie Totah had fans in a frenzy when she posted a video of herself kissing Jessie costar Karan Brar on social media. The internet was immediately flooded with buzz that the two were dating 10 years after the end of the Disney Channel show.
After the footage went viral, Totah took to TikTok to post an update about what’s going on between the two, answering the question fans were dying to know: Are they in a relationship?
Unfortunately for shippers, the former costars are not dating. Totah re-uploaded the kissing video and stitched it together with a clip of herself cracking up, adding, “It was a joke.” She reiterated this two more times before ending the video.

To make sure she got the message across loud and clear, the actress captioned her video, “WE ARE TWO PLATONIC BEST FRIENDS WHO DANCED A LITTLE TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN.”
Totah came out as a transgender female in 2018. She joined the cast of Jessie, playing a boy named Stuart Wooten, in 2013 and starred in seven total episodes as a recurring character before the series ended in 2015. Meanwhile, Brar was a series regular from the 2011 premiere until the finale five seasons later. He portrayed Ravi Ross and reprised the role as a main character in the first three seasons — and later as a guest star — in the spinoff Bunk’d, which aired from 2015 until 2024.
Needless to say, there were many fans who were disappointed to find out that this romance wasn’t the real deal. “Well you can’t be joking like that cause now I’m disappointed,” one person commented on Totah’s video. Another added, “Now why would yall do this. I was cheering.”
Others also hinted that they didn’t believe the actors were joking. “Nah the kiss looked so real,” one person said, while another commented, “Friends don’t look at friends that way.”
