Grant Ellis Teases His ‘Bachelor’ Ending: Was He Really Undecided About His Final Pick?

Grant Ellis‘ indecisiveness in previews from the final rose ceremony on Season 29 of The Bachelor have made waves in Bachelor Nation ahead of the January 27 premiere. But did he really make his final decision at the very last second?
In an interview with Swooon, Grant opened up about where his head was at heading into the final rose ceremony and revealed whether he was actually undecided before making his final pick.
“There were several factors that came into play, but I definitely knew what I wanted to do,” he confirmed. “It’s just building up to doing it and making that decision. In sports, they call it crunch time. It was crunch time, and you have to make a decision. You have two amazing women with amazing qualities and to go ahead and let somebody down is the hard part.”
The former basketball player admitted that it was “difficult” to navigate through the breakup portion of the final rose ceremony but added, “The thing that helped me was thinking about what was going to make me happy. That’s how I navigated through that.”
At the end of the premiere episode, an extended trailer showed Grant admitting that he was in love with more than one person. “When you say you love somebody, it’s a commitment. Going into the show, I didn’t know it was possible to have those feelings of love for two different people,” Grant explained. “But, then again, I’ve never dated multiple people at once, so that’s something that’s new. The type of person I am, I care a lot for people, so a lot of that came from the care I had for these women.”
The New Jersey native also said that every rose ceremony was “hard” for him, not just the final one. “From the start, night one, I had a hard time eliminating some of these ladies because they were all so deserving of love,” he revealed. “I think that it was hard for me. But, ultimately, [I had] to do something that made me happy in the end.”
The Bachelor premiere will feature 25 women hoping to fall in love with Grant. Over the course of the season, he’ll have to narrow it down to just one.
