Guy Gansert and Joan Vassos will be coming face-to-face this weekend, two months after their last interaction at the Golden Bachelorette finale. Gansert appeared on the Almost Famous podcast and guest hosts Bob Guiney and Andrew Firestone pointed out that he will be at the same upcoming event as Vassos and Chock Chapple.

Of course, there’s always the potential of an awkward run-in when you’re crossing paths with an ex, so Guiney had to ask Gansert for an update on whether he’s kept in touch with his ex and her fiancé since The Golden Bachelorette ended.

“I’ve spoken with Chock several times,” the ER doctor confirmed. “It’s almost like we talk once a week. Not for a lot, it’s more just, ‘Hey, how are you doing? Everything going OK?'” He pointed out that he and Chapple were roommates on the show, so they formed a close friendship.

“I saw Joan, obviously, at the finale [in November], but that’s on stage and you don’t have a lot of time to really talk,” he continued. “I saw her at the afterparty, but probably only got to talk to her for, like, a minute, so not much.”

However, he assured the podcast hosts that he’s “very comfortable” with the idea of seeing Vassos again. “I thank her,” he said. “She allowed me to move forward. How can I be upset about that? At the end of the show, the emotions you saw at the end, those are real emotions. I can’t fake that stuff. [People] say, ‘Did you really fall in love?’ I said, ‘In the moment, yes, but mostly, as I look back on it, I fell in love with the idea of falling in love.’ It’s absolutely a win. That allowed me to know that I can feel this way again because I didn’t think I could.”

Gansert was previously married to his wife, Heidi, for 34 years before they divorced in 2021. They share four children.
