Chelsea Handler Reveals New Mystery Boyfriend in Relationship Update
Chelsea Handler has a new man in her life. However, unlike her public relationship with fellow comedian Jo Koy, she has decided to keep the identity of her new beau under wraps.
During an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the 49-year-old Critics Choice Awards host was candid about her life. Alex Cooper casually asked, “Are you seeing anybody right now?” on the February 5 episode, and Handler did not hold back.
Not giving away any identifying details, she did reveal that she met her now-boyfriend “a long time ago.” Recently, their connection has developed into something more.
Handler quipped, “We didn’t really become lovers until about six or seven months ago.” Around that time she invited him on a trip to Mallorca with a group of friends. “I’ve known him for years,” she said. “I’ve always been attracted to him, but he was not available. I always have wanted someone like him in my life.”
Yet, don’t expect her to say who her mystery man is publicly any time soon. “I’ve been down that road before with having a public relationship, my last relationship,” she mentioned to Cooper, referring to her romance with Koy. She added, “It’s more out of respect for their privacy. I don’t want him to have to be exposed to my world.”
Listing all the reasons she’s attracted to him, the New Jersey-born media figure began by stating that he’s “hot” and “awesome,” before adding, “He’s sweet and so caring and completely sees me and understands that I am not available a lot.” She explained, “My life is pretty crazy, and he appreciates that. He’s around when I want him to be. He’s great.”
That kind of arrangement suits her as Handler freely admitted to not having any urge to get married.
“I go through periods where I have multiple lovers. That’s kind of what I wanted to do when I was a little girl. I wanted to grow up and be a woman that did have multiple lovers,” she said. “I’m not interested in long-term commitments — to work, to people, to anything. I am a free spirit, and I want to remain and soar like an eagle. … I want to soar like an eagle with my heart and legs wide open.”
Throughout the podcast, Handler also touched upon some of her previous partners. The Chelsea Does star recalled when she planted 35 Linden Trees, which she is “pretty sure” she “imported from Germany at the time,” in her ex’s driveway. This was a way to ensure that he’d always think of her in the spring and fall whenever people prompted him about it.
Her most famous previous partner, 50 Cent, was also brought up on Call Her Daddy. With no bad blood between them, Handler quickly stated, “He was beautiful. He was a sweetheart. He was so sweet.”
She continued, “He was a sweetheart. All my friends when I dated him just f**king loved it because he’d come over to our house every night and he’d have a Lamborghini one day and then a yellow Ferrari the next day.” Yet, he didn’t own all of these. “Meanwhile, I realized he was borrowing all these cars from different dealerships,” she added.
This led her to the topic of cars. During their courtship, she bought herself a “chocolate Bentley.”
“I didn’t know you could borrow cars as a celebrity. So, I went and bought a chocolate Bentley and then we broke up,” she professed. “There I am stuck with this chocolate Bentley, like a f**king white dumb b*tch a**hole driving around like I’m some rapper. And I had that Bentley — which was a really nice car, by the way — I had that Bentley for, like, two years.”
