Amelia Dimoldenberg Jokes She & Monica Barbaro Have ‘Something in Common’ Amid Andrew Garfield Rumors

Amelia Dimoldenberg has become a red carpet staple. With her British wit, awkward demeanor, and affectionate smile, she is the one to see if you want to get a good soundbite. Everyone remembers Dimoldenberg and Andrew Garfield‘s viral flirty banter at the 2023 Golden Globes and later their Chicken Shop Date episode.

While Dimoldenberg didn’t have an Oscars reunion with Garfield, she did have an interesting chat with A Complete Unknown star Monica Barbaro, who is rumored to be dating Garfield. Before she went inside the Dolby Theater, the California native stopped at Dimoldenberg’s station.

Dimoldenberg led the conversation by saying, “I heard we have something in common.” With a shocked look on her face, Barbaro said, “What?” But, Dimoldenberg didn’t follow up in the direction everyone was expecting.

Dimoldenberg asked, “Was your first-ever foray into theater, A Midsummer Night’s Dream?” Both parties giggled throughout the questioning. The 34-year-old Top Gun: Maverick alum responded, “Yes.” Dimoldenberg stated, “Yeah, so was mine.” To close the segment, Barbaro joked, “That’s what I thought you were going to say.”

There was no mention of Garfield, but Dimoldenberg’s “something in common” line was a clear nod to the We Live In Time star. Barbaro and Garfield, who was a presenter, didn’t walk the Oscars red carpet as a unit, but they were seen leaving an after-party together.

Fans of Dimoldenberg and Garfield begged the two to date after their flirty run-in on the 2023 Golden Globes red carpet. Yet, that never happened. They did, however, appease the masses when he hopped onto her show, Chicken Shop Date. The October 2024 episode focused on their playful interactions. Afterward, it became clear that the two would never take their romance into the real world.

Dimoldenberg addressed her situation with Garfield ahead of the Oscars. “I don’t think it’s going to happen,” she told The New Yorker in a profile. “Otherwise I would be going out with him already, wouldn’t I?”

Garfield presented the Best Animated Feature Film and Best Animated Short Film alongside Goldie Hawn. His ex-girlfriend, Emma Stone, was also a presenter during the ceremony.
