Eric Dane & Rebecca Gayheart Call Off Divorce 7 Years After Splitting Up

Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart have found their way back to each other.
The spouses went their separate ways in 2018 when Gayheart filed for divorce. At the time Dane said, “After 14 years together we have decided that ending our marriage is the best decision for our family,” in a statement to PEOPLE. Now, seven years later, the veteran actors are reevaluating that decision.
According to PEOPLE Gayheart requested to dismiss her divorce from the Euphoria actor on March 6. She asked to dismiss the 2018 petition without prejudice. Both she and Dane signed off on the documents.
In the original filing, the model cited irreconcilable differences and listed the date of separation as “TBD.” She requested joint legal and physical custody of the duo’s two daughters in addition to spousal support. The couple were, however, not pressed to make this a done deal and they even received warnings from the court in 2019 to finalize their divorce. Supervising Judge Thomas Lewis said the court “may dismiss” the case “for delay in prosecution” if the exes failed to provide the necessary documents.
During their years apart, the Grey’s Anatomy alum and his wife remained cordial and even spoke highly of each other. In 2022, four years after they separated, they took their kids on a joint vacation to France. A year later, Dane and Gayheart took a trip by themselves to Cabo, Mexico, where they were seen holding hands. And, in December 2024, the twosome and their kids were once again spotted enjoying a holiday as a family in Hawaii.
However, it is worth noting that Dane was spotted on an apparent date night with Priya Jain in February.
Dane and Gayheart aren’t strangers to controversy. The pair, who tied the knot in 2004 in a Las Vegas ceremony, made headlines in 2009 when a private video of the two and Miss Teen USA Kari Ann Peniche was released online.
Dane was adamant that the video should not be viewed as a sex tape. He said that it showed “a private, consensual moment involving a married couple, shot several years ago, which was never intended to be seen by the public.” Their rep Marty Singer added, “It is a private tape made for only my clients’ personal use, and nobody has the right to exploit it. If anyone exploits the tape, they will be violating my clients’ rights and will be exposed to significant liability.”
