Connie Britton Makes Rare Comments About Being Single Mother & Relationship With David Windsor

Connie Britton mostly keeps her personal life private, but she shared some intel about the two most important men in her life during a new interview. The actress discussed adopting her only son as a single mother and opened up about life with longtime boyfriend David Windsor, whom she’s been dating since 2019.

Following her 1995 divorce from John Britton after four years of marriage, Britton adopted her son, Yoby, from Ethiopia in November 2011.

“I went into [that] a little bit blindly, not really fully anticipating what it is to be a single mom and how difficult that is, and what you’re taking on in doing that,” she admitted to Parade. “I had a stay-at-home nanny. So I realized, ‘Oh my gosh, at least I have help.'”

As difficult as it was, Britton said she “always wanted to be a mom,” adding, “I thought that maybe I would have a biological child first, perhaps. I didn’t know. I knew that I hadn’t achieved the kind of partnership that I was looking for to have a spouse and a child together. And so I thought, ‘This is the time, I’m going to start the adoption process.'”

In 2019, Britton was “set up” with Windsor at a friend’s 50th birthday party. She kept details of their relationship private until a 2023 interview when she confirmed she had been seeing the producer since “right before COVID.” At the time, she revealed that he was already “definitely stepping into that more paternal role.”

The two are still going strong more than five years later. “What I was really looking for was a partnership where there’s constant growth, on both sides, and a sort of deepening of each other,” she explained. “It’s not just like, ‘Oh, I found true love.’ It’s that I found somebody who I can walk on a journey with that is going to be constantly ever-changing.”
