Nearly two months after Sabrina Soto announced that she had gotten engaged, she’s finally spilling more details about her husband-to-be. The HGTV alum previously did not name her fiancé, although she did share photos with him on Instagram before opening up about his identity.

In a new interview, Soto explained why she kept tight-lipped about who her man is. She also discussed his elaborate proposal and revealed where they stand with wedding planning.

“He’s not a social media person,” Soto explained to People, confirming that her fiancé is a physical therapist for the Chicago Cubs named Nathan “Nate” Whitney. “He makes me laugh so much. I feel so safe with him and I just respect him a lot. I actually like the person he is. I know that sounds weird because, of course, I have to like him, but I think a lot of people get caught up in passion and things, but at the end of the day he’s my best friend.”

The relationship started online “about a year and a half ago,” with Soto in Los Angeles and Whitney in Chicago. However, the interior designer, who has a daughter, didn’t waste time bringing up the subject of their long-distance relationship. She broached the topic on her third date with Whitney, and they’ve made it work.

The former mystery man went to great lengths to pop the question. He asked Soto to participate in an escape room with him, which she’d never done before. “I didn’t know that it’s not normal for two people to be in the building by themselves,” she explained. “We get into this room, he’s acting so nervous. I knew he was nerdy, but this is taking it to a whole new level — that he’s this frantic about an escape room, taking it so seriously.”

When Soto found what she thought was the final clue, it was actually a book that told her and Whitney’s entire love story. At the end, there was a hole cut out with her engagement ring inside. After Soto said yes, Whitney surprised her by gathering their families for a celebration at the restaurant where the couple had their first date.

So far, there are no wedding plans set in stone. “At first, I just thought we should go to City Hall,” Soto admitted. “So it’s gone all the way from just going to City Hall to a wedding. I have a place in Flora Farms in Cabo, a little farm, it’s on the actual farm, a little house. So we’ve gone from City Hall to maybe out on the farm to maybe a wedding here, so we don’t know yet.”
