Carla Gallo and John Francis Daley were love interests on Bones, but was there ever something between the two in real life? The actress admittedly had a bit of a “crush” on her costar while they were working together.

However, the two actually crossed paths years before they were working together and playing romantic partners on screen. She revealed that they first met while he was on Freaks and Geeks, and she was working on Undeclared.

“He might’ve been, like, 17 or something. I remember him kind of being a little flirty with me, but I was 26,” Gallo told Us Weekly. “I was like, ‘This kid, he’s so cute, but he’s a child, and, like, why is he trying to [flirt]?'”

She admitted there was a “real reversal” when she joined Season 4 of Bones and reconnected with Daley. As Gallo pointed out, the actor was a “full-fledged man” at that point, and she had “a little crush on him.”

Gallo continued, “I was like, ‘He is the sweetest person,’ but I had missed the window. He was like, ‘Listen, old lady, you’re in your 30s now, you passed the prime. You missed the opportunity.'” She also confirmed that the two never had a romantic relationship in real life.

Bones aired for 12 seasons from 2005 to 2017 on Fox. While Daley’s character was part of the show from Season 3 to 10, Gallo was in the cast from Seasons 4 to 12. The pair’s characters, Lance and Daisy, dated on-and-off during the course of the show and were even engaged at one point. When Lance was killed in Season 10, Daisy was pregnant with his child.

Gallo and Bones star Emily Deschanel are now reminiscing about the show on their Boneheads podcast, and Gallo said that she’s looking forward to reuniting with Daley when he hopefully comes on as a guest one day.
