Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have big plans ahead of them — and it’s not just about music. They released their first album as a twosome, I Said I Love You First, on March 21, and have been promoting their work as a unit.

The talking points on their press tour are about more than just the technical aspects. The couple is known to not shy away from private matters and have been candid about their love story. First sharing their engagement with the world in December 2024, Gomez and Blanco are opening up about their future family.

Hopping on the Jay Shetty podcast, the former Disney Channel alum recalled a conversation she had with her lover about their recent record and how he couldn’t wait to show it to their kids one day. Gomez and Blanco are both in agreement about wanting to start a family. “I don’t know what will happen, obviously, but I love children. I have an 11-year-old sister that I absolutely adore,” Gomez said, referencing to her younger sibling, Gracie Elliott Teefey.

Not letting the topic go, the 32-year-old added, “I love making [children] laugh; they’re just so sweet. So absolutely, when that day comes, I’m so excited for it.”

Fans of the Only Murders in the Building star shouldn’t be shocked by that statement considering the actor had previously said in an interview with Time that she had wanted to adopt a child if she was still single by the time she turned 35. Gomez has found her true love in Blanco, and she gushed over marrying her “best friend.”

Blanco picked up the conversation and illuminated another part of Gomez. He commented that his wife-to-be was “the ultimate level of shy,” but then compared it to her interacting with children, which brings out a whole new side of the “Who Says” singer.

“When she walks into a room, her main goal is to disappear into the crowd. My mom is very similar, her and my mom are very similar,” the music producer admitted. “They’ll wait and say like one thing throughout the night that winds up being the most poignant or funny thing of the night. But I’m gonna have diarrhea of the mouth talking to everyone.”

He continued, “Whenever there’s kids at a place it’s the only time I see her do that. She immediately goes to the kids and has these conversations for like hours with the kids.” He has often thought about what the reason for this might be and linked it to her past as a child star.

“When you started doing this you were a kid and that was your way to connect to people, and I feel like you still feel like you have that obligation to connect with young kids,” he pointed out. “You shaped so many young people’s lives, whether it was BarneyWizards [of Waverly Place]… you’re still finding your way to do that,” Blanco told his soon-to-be wife.
