Thunderstorm Artis performed an original song as a tribute to his wife for Mother’s Day on the Sunday, May 11, episode of American Idol, and it had Ryan Seacrest in his feels. Seacrest printed out the lyrics to the romantic track and read them out loud after Thunderstorm took the stage.

“I’ve never been more depressed to be single than right now in this moment,” he joked after reciting the lyrics. “I will cherish this.”

Seacrest was previously in a relationship with Aubrey Paige for three years before their 2021 split. He has never been married.

On a previous episode of American Idol, Seacrest addressed his relationship status after sharing a sweet moment with contestant Jamal Roberts’ kids. He carried two of Jamal’s daughters on stage and Luke Bryan told him, “You kinda looked good doing that! You looked like you were ready for that.”

Seacrest didn’t miss a beat before responding, “You know anyone?”

He also spoke about his love life on a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune. When Vanna White asked him what his biggest fear is, he responded, “Relationships.” However, in 2017, he said on Live With Kelly and Ryan that he “loves the idea” of getting married one day.

“I know you’re going to ask me of marriage because my parents have been married for 47 years, and so I have this thing,” he said. “I figure the longer I wait, the older I’ll be, the closer to death I am, so I can get it in and not screw it up.”

He also opened up about the possibility of having kids one day in 2022. “I think having kids at the right time would be great,” he admitted. “I have a fantastic family, a very small family. I have a niece. [My sister] Meredith has a daughter. My parents have been married 52 and a half years, so there’s a high bar. So that’s in my head.”
