Will ‘Bridgerton’ Recast Hyacinth & Gregory After Season 4? The Rumors Explained

Alert the Ton! Bridgerton fans believe they have spotted the series’ next major recast.
From the first season of Shondaland’s Regency era romance, Bridgerton has featured two very different (yet equally important) kinds of love. While Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), and Colin (Luke Newton) have proven the earth-shattering power of romantic love, all eight Bridgerton children have given us a window into the power of the love that one has within a tight-knit family.
No matter what kind of relationships the Bridgerton stars are portraying, the cast has made it clear that the love extends far beyond what we see on the screen. For us, this bond was truly put in perspective last November, when Bailey revealed that filming for Season 4 was about to begin. He shared, “We’ll be reunited with the family next week, actually.”

However, after three seasons, the Bridgerton family is no stranger to casting shake-ups, as Season 3 saw the replacement of Ruby Stokes, the original Francesca Bridgerton actress, with Hannah Dodd. When the replacement was announced, Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen shared: “After exhausting all other options, [Stokes] unfortunately had to come out due to reasons beyond our control.” Now, fans are speculating that two more Bridgertons will be leaving the show for a different reason.
Recently, our For You Page on TikTok has been stacked with videos circulating the rumor that the two youngest Bridgertons, played by Florence Hunt and Will Tilston, were only cast to play their respective roles through childhood. While evidence for this theory is limited, fans have pointed towards Bridgerton author Julia Quinn’s website credits Hunt as “Young Hyacinth Bridgerton” and Tilston as “Young Gregory Bridgerton” as possible proof that the actors will be replaced with older counterparts.
While this theory is not new, fans of the book series believe that a faithful adaptation of Luke Thompson‘s character, Benedict Bridgerton’s story, An Offer from a Gentleman, would set the stage for Bridgerton‘s first major time jump and the departure of its “young” stars.
These rumors have received mixed reactions from fans who have loved watching Hunt and Tilston grow up with their characters. While TV Tea Party on TikTok discusses the “gross” nature of a 12-year-old receiving a role that requires them to spend 10 years prepping to lead their own “spicy” scenes, others don’t see the issue with the cast members aging with their characters. As a commenter on the TV Tea Party video put it: “If I can get past the fact that I watched the Harry Potter actors grow up in front of me and do movies that are [risqué], then I can get used to them.”
If the Bridgerton recasting rumors are correct, fans believe they have spotted our future Gregory Bridgerton: Jonah Hauer-King. On May 5, X user Wantii spotted that “Bridgerton casting agency is following Jonah Hauer-King.” Some fans believe that he is in the running for a young Edmund Bridgerton in another potential Bridgerton prequel, while others have theorized that the actor is joining the series to play the youngest bachelor. As for Hyacinth, if we have to see Florence Hunt go, we’re convinced Kristine Frøseth (The Buccaneers) is her (slightly older) spitting image.
