Houseguest Romance

Expect the Unexpected: ‘Big Brother’s Tucker Des Lauriers & Rubina Bernabe Have Split

Tucker Des Lauriers and Rubina Bernabe of 'Big Brother'

Less than a year after meeting as houseguests on Big Brother Season 26, Tucker Des Lauriers and Rubina Bernabe have officially called it quits.

The exes announced their split separately via their Instagram broadcast channels, according to Parade. Their breakup comes just weeks after they attended Coachella together and shared PDA photos.

Bernabe shared: “Tucker and I are no longer together. Grateful to have met him & for the love we shared. Feeling grounded and focused on this next chapter of growth. We appreciate your support, your respect, and the space to move through this chapter privately. And a big thank you in advance for continuing to support me through every season.”

While Bernabe firmly stated that she and Des Lauriers were “no longer together,” the latter called their separation “a break.” In his official statement, he said: “There has been a lot going on lately and I wanted to finally address things. Rubina and I are taking a break. It’s very sad but deep down we both know it is what’s best for both of us at this time. I’ve loved and appreciated all the support from each and everyone of you and hope I can still have with you all moving forward. I appreciate your understanding as I navigate this privately.”

The former couple came together last summer during Season 26 of Big Brother, which many have commended as one of the best seasons of the game in several years. While neither Des Lauriers nor Bernabe won the season (an honor that went to their fellow houseguest Chelsie Baham), the early season was defined by Des Lauriers’ dominant gameplay and the couple’s budding showmance.

At the end of the season, Des Lauriers became the first contestant eliminated pre-jury to win the title of “America’s Favorite Houseguest,” using his well-deserved moment in the spotlight to give Bernabe a bouquet of flowers, proving his feelings were still going strong after spending 45 days apart.

The Big Brother Season 27 premiere is just weeks away, and fans can expect to watch a new set of houseguests (and their showmances!)
