‘1000-lb Sisters’ Star Amy Slaton Is Engaged: Get to Know Brian Lovvorn
Amy Slaton is engaged! After just five months of dating Brian Lovvorn, the 1000-lb Sisters star accepted his proposal, which aired during the Tuesday, May 13, episode of the TLC show.
The couple was walking through a haunted house when Lovvorn got down on one knee and popped the question. Although this went down at the end of 2024, Slaton’s been holding onto the news until the episode aired.
Lovvorn presented his fiancée with a ring that featured two skeleton hands that formed the shape of a heart. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much celebrating, as Slaton’s sisters, Tammy Slaton and Misty Slaton, were worried she was rushing into this relationship.

How did Amy Slaton and Brian Lovvorn meet?
Slaton and Lovvorn met while they were both attending a concert in a park. Once he met her two sons, whom she shares with ex-husband Michael Halterman, Slaton knew he was the one.
“They just took to him naturally,” she told People. “He just fit perfectly in our family. He fits perfectly in the life I’ve always wanted.”
While discussing the pair’s first meeting, Slaton said on 1000-lb Sisters, “We were in the mosh pit, and we were talking and singing and stuff.” She admittedly “wasn’t attracted” to him at first, but decided to give him a chance. They got matching tattoos on their second date.

“He goes, ‘Thank you for giving me a shot but why did you keep me around?’ I was like, ‘I don’t know, there was just something about you that I said yes to,'” Slaton shared. “And we haven’t been separated since.”

On a previous episode of 1000-lb Sisters, Slaton revealed that her then-boyfriend is a news reporter. He worked for The Messenger in Hopkins County, Kentucky, from 1999 to 2006 and was rehired by the outlet in 2023.

In September 2024, the couple was arrested at a zoo in Tennessee. Slaton was bit by a camel when she opened her window in the park, and when police arrived on the scene, they discovered illegal substances in the car.
Slaton and Lovvorn, who were with her sons, were arrested for possession and child endangerment. They were held in jail and eventually released on bail, but Slaton’s kids were placed in custody of a family member following the arrest.
In December 2024, Slaton and Lovvorn pled guilty to one count of simple possession of marijuana and one count of simple possession of mushrooms. As part of the plea deal, the child endangerment charges were dropped. Slaton and Lovvorn also had to pay a $1,000 fine and complete a drug and alcohol assessment.
