‘9-1-1’: Oliver Stark Reveals His Hopes for Buck’s Love Life in Season 9 (VIDEO)
Evan “Buck” Buckley’s romantic life hasn’t always been smooth sailing. Juggling a demanding (and life-threatening) job and dating isn’t easy.
There’s the Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) situation, but they seem to be just in the friend zone at the moment. With 9-1-1 Season 8 coming to a close and Season 9 on the horizon, what’s next for Buck (Oliver Stark) in the love department? Stark spoke with Swooon about Buck’s romance situation.
“I don’t know. Tommy has not been in the last two episodes of the season, so that’s kind of left a little bit up in the air,” Stark said at the Disney Upfront. “We didn’t see them interact, I don’t believe, at the funeral, so the last we really saw of them was in the helicopter, and there was a bit of a moment between the two of them with the ‘I’m doing this for you, too,’ which is obviously a nice moment. Yeah, so we’ll see.”
As Buck moves forward, Stark admitted that he wants his character to make relationship decisions for himself and not because of outside influences. “I want Buck to make his romantic decisions from a much more well-considered place, not because he’s feeling upset about something else or whatever it is. I want him to be in control of the decisions he makes more than anything,” the actor stressed.

In between the beenado, earthquake, and tsunami, 9-1-1 has given fans some pretty epic romantic moments over the years. When asked to pick the most romantic moment of 9-1-1 so far, Stark said, “Probably Season 1, Bobby and Athena walking into dinner together. Everything about that scene is so beautiful, and I think as the audience you’re just like, ‘Oh, that’s the story now.’ That’s a strong one.”
Of course, we had to ask Stark what makes him swoon since he’s been making viewers swoon since 2018. “Kindness. People that are excited for life. Yeah, ‘cause that excitement carries over,” he said with a smile.
