Sparks Fly Between Lana Condor & Ross Butler in Flirty ‘Worth the Wait’ Preview (VIDEO)

Rom-com princess Lana Condor reunites with her To All the Boys costar Ross Butler in Tubi’s new movie Worth the Wait, which premieres May 23. A chance rideshare to the hospital brings Leah and Kai together. Right away, these two have an instant connection. Kai doesn’t waste his chance and asks Leah out.

In Swooon’s exclusive sneak peek of Worth the Wait, Kai and Leah grab coffee at a cafe. Let’s just say the rom-com bantering between Leah and Kai is excellent.

“You weren’t supposed to actually do that,” Leah quips in the preview video. Kai asks, “Do what?” Leah replies, “Ask me out in real life. Like a psycho.”

Naturally, Kai’s a little confused, so Leah elaborates: “You were supposed to keep bantering with me, and then ultimately ignore any forms of attraction between us and then ghost me so I forever wonder what I did wrong.” (Leah’s spot on about what it’s like dating in 2025.)

Kai doesn’t ignore the flirty vibes bouncing back and forth between him and Leah. “I thought that I was supposed to start an endless text chain where I would say nice things to you but never actually make a move,” he tells Leah, who responds, “Like a normal person.” Kai adds with a little self-deprecating twinge, “I am much better on paper.”

This effortless repartee is the stuff rom-com lovers obsess over. If this is just a morsel of Kai and Leah’s love story, imagine the whole movie. It’ll be—drumroll, please—worth the wait.

The film follows the lives of Kai, Teresa, Nathan, and Curtis as their lives intertwine after their fateful rideshare. Kai falls for Leah, sparking a whirlwind romance complicated by distance, while Teresa and Nathan face heartbreak and healing. Curtis, raising his niece Riley, finds renewed hope for love through her teenage romance. Meanwhile, actress Amanda reunites with her ex-fiancé, Scott, now her director, forcing them to confront unresolved feelings from their past.

Worth the Wait premieres in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month as Tubi’s first Asian American original film.
