The former NASCAR driver, son of the legendary Dale Earnhardt Sr., chronicles his family’s rise to racing dominance and the Daytona 500 tragedy that claimed his father’s life in 2001.

Who is Dale Earnhardt Jr. married to?

Dale Jr. and his wife had an adorable meet-cute. They met when he hired her interior design firm to help renovate his home in North Carolina. They began dating in 2009 and kept their relationship out of the public eye for the first couple of years. They made their first public appearance as a couple in 2011 at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champions Week Awards Ceremony.

In the early days of their romance, Dale Jr. admitted on In Depth that he and Amy were “having a hard time figuring out how to make” their relationship work. “Just a lot of tension and disagreement and misunderstanding, and there were great times — and then there were days when we would both sort of withdraw and get frustrated with each other and not communicate and hold grudges,” he added. They credit therapy with saving their relationship.

For a time, Dale Jr. didn’t have any intention of getting married, but he changed his mind once his relationship with Amy got serious. “He wanted to have kids, and so I told him, ‘I get you not wanting to get married,'” Amy recalled. “‘We don’t have to get married, but I’m never having children with you if we aren’t.'”

The former NASCAR driver proposed to Amy in 2015 while on vacation in Germany. They married on New Year’s Eve in 2016. Their wedding took place at Childress Vineyards, owned by former NASCAR driver Richard Childress, in Lexington, North Carolina.

Amy was previously married to Tommy Cook, her college sweetheart. They wed in 2008 and got divorced only months later.

What does Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s wife do for a living?

Amy attended the University of Kentucky and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in interior design. She worked at Wakefield Beasley & Associates and Micamy Design Studio. After Dale Jr.’s retirement in 2017, he and Amy appeared in the reality series Renovation Realities: Dale Jr. & Amy in 2018.

Today, Amy has transitioned into new career ventures. She’s the cofounder of High Rock Vodka alongside her husband. She also hosts the Bless Your Hardt podcast for Dirty Mo Media, her husband’s media company.

Does Dale Earnhardt Jr. have any kids?

Dale Jr. and his wife announced they were expecting their first child in October 2017. Their daughter, Isla Rose Earnhardt, was born on April 30, 2018. They welcomed their second child, a daughter named Nicole Loraine Earnhardt, on October 12, 2020.

Amy revealed in a July 2024 episode of her husband’s podcast that Nicole takes after her dad. “Their birthdays are two days apart,” she revealed. Dale Jr.’s birthday is October 10. “They’re gonna naturally just be more similar, I think. She looks like me but acts like him, which is scary.”

When were Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife in a plane crash?

On August 15, 2019, Dale Jr. was involved in a plane crash with his wife and oldest daughter. The plane crashed after a hard landing at the Elizabethton Municipal Airport in Tennessee. The Earnhardts, as well as the two pilots, suffered minor injuries. The National Transportation Safety Board later attributed the crash to pilot error.

“Amy and I want to thank everyone who has lifted us up with phone calls, messages and prayer since last Thursday. We are truly blessed that all on board escaped with no serious injuries, including our daughter, our two pilots and our dog Gus,” Dale Jr. said in a statement after the crash.
