Are ‘Sex/Life’ Stars Adam Demos & Sarah Shahi Still Together?
Adam Demos and Sarah Shahi had insane chemistry in the Netflix show Sex/Life, which was likely due to the fact that they were in a real-life relationship that began while they were filming Season 1 of the show. Production began in August 2020, at which point Shahi was freshly-separated from husband Steve Howey.
By the time Sex/Life premiered in June 2021, Demos and Shahi had already gone public with their romance. They first hinted at a relationship when they shared the same photo on New Year’s Eve 2020. Then, Demos confirmed they were an item by paying tribute to Shahi on her birthday days later.

No, sadly the couple reportedly split in April 2025, according to Page Six. The outlet reported that Shahi dumped Demos, but no further details about the breakup were given.
Neither star has commented on the reports, but just two months before the news broke, Shahi spoke about the relationship in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter and didn’t hint at any trouble in paradise.

The actress said that she and Demos were “open” to working together again in the future. “We’ve definitely looked at other projects. Nothing has felt right so far, but what’s great about that is that we met as actors,” she shared. “So we have a really great working relationship with each other; obviously, we have great chemistry. And because we are in a relationship, it’s impossible to lie. I can’t look at him and fake a line. He can’t look at me and do the same. There’s no tolerance for any sort of bulls**t. So I think we do work well with each other, and I would love to find something that he and I could do together.”
Was Sarah Shahi married when she met Adam Demos?
Technically yes, as her divorce from Howey was not finalized until January 2021. However, she and Howey had already broken up when she started dating Demos. She clarified the timeline of the relationships on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast in 2023, revealing that she separated from Howey in May 2020 (three months before Sex/Life began filming).
Shahi explained that her romance with Demos was “not instant” and said it developed “over time,” adding, “It was getting to know him as a person and seeing how aligned our values were.”
Do Adam Demos and Sarah Shahi have kids?
No, the couple never had any children together. However, Shahi and Howey share son William, born in 2009, and twins Violet and Knox, born in 2015.
Shahi and Howey were together for 18 years and married for 11 when they separated. “From the time that our first child was born, our relationship suffered and it was hard to get back on track,” Shahi admitted. “We were together for a very long time. We were together for 18 years. That’s not a failure. That’s a long time. But the last 10 years, we really did struggle.”
