What Happened to ‘The Bachelorette’s Gabby Windey & Erich Schwer? Where They Stand Now

Years before Gabby Windey was the winner of The Traitors and a social media sensation, she was a Bachelor Nation cast member. First, she starred on Clayton Echard‘s season of The Bachelor, and then she was the co-lead of The Bachelorette Season 19 with Rachel Recchia in 2022.
On the show, she got engaged to Erich Schwer at the final rose ceremony, then became a contestant on Season 31 of Dancing With the Stars immediately after the finale aired. Today, Windey is happily married to Robby Hoffman (she came out in August 2023).
So, what happened between her and Schwer? Scroll down for a refresh on their relationship.
What happened to Gabby Windey and Erich Schwer?
Windey and Schwer split in early November 2022, just months after they got engaged. At the time, Windey was in the midst of her run on Dancing With the Stars. She ultimately finished the show in second place.
While Schwer was in the audience cheering on Windey during the first few DWTS live shows, he eventually stopped showing up, leading to speculation that there was trouble in the relationship.
At first, Windey played coy, telling Fox News, “I think life is just really busy for the both of us right now. So, I understand their concern but we’re just kinda, you know, going forward with each of our individual interests and supporting each other from afar.”

However, she eventually confirmed the split during the November 14, 2022, episode of DWTS. “The end of our relationship happened because we weren’t completely in step and in sync with each other on our common goals or just the way we approach life,” she shared. “We weren’t each other’s best match.”
Why did Gabby Windey and Erich Schwer split?
The two are not on good terms after the breakup. Windey made rare comments about the split on the Just Trish podcast in May 2025 and shared the real reason why the relationship didn’t work.
“I mean, we’re not okay,” she said. “He just didn’t have his s**t together. He didn’t have a job. Didn’t want to get a job. And that was basically it. I’m like, ‘How are you going to go on TV, bamboozle me into thinking you’re a normal person, and then get off the show and you have no income?'”
Looking back, Windey admitted that she wasn’t sure if Schwer came on the show for love or to launch a career as an influencer. “Men cannot be influencers,” she insisted. “It’s, like, ‘Hello, nobody wants to buy anything from you.’ Like, you can be hot, dude, but that can only get you so far. We’re not buying razors.”
She added, “It’s just, like, our goals weren’t aligned,” and said she thinks Schwer was “just waiting for brand deals” to come along. If he’d launched a secondary career as an OnlyFans creator, Windey said she “would have been fine” with it “because at least he would have had, like, subscriptions and income.”
What is Erich Schwer doing now?
Schwer moved from New Jersey to Los Angeles around the time he was on The Bachelorette. He appears to be dabbling in modeling and influencing, as he posts for a variety of brands on his Instagram page.
On his LinkedIn, Schwer’s most recent position was as an acquisitions analyst for Rexford Industrial, which ended in March 2022.
On Valentine’s Day 2023, he hard-launched his relationship with model Elizabeth Turner, but the two rarely share photos together on social media. Their status today is unclear, but they do still follow each other on Instagram.
