Are Halle Berry & Boyfriend Van Hunt Getting Married? Their Major Relationship Update
Wedding bells may be in the near future for Halle Berry — or they will be if her boyfriend, Van Hunt, has anything to say about it!
The Oscar winner has been dating Hunt for half a decade, and after the couple sat down with Today for their first-ever joint interview, the singer-songwriter revealed that he’s already proposed to the 58-year-old actress — but has yet to receive an answer.
“So I put out the proposal, and it’s still on hold as you can see,” the 55-year-old said. “It’s just out there floating. You know, maybe you can encourage her.”
It’s not that Berry is opposed to marrying Hunt, but she cited her previous three marriages as the reason she hasn’t said yes yet. “Van has been married once,” she added. “And so no, we don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way. We don’t.”
Berry made sure to clarify that she hasn’t ruled out marriage completely, but said it shouldn’t feel forced. “I think we will get married just because, out of the people I’ve been married to, this is the person I should have married,” Berry said. “I think it’s something that we would like to do just because we want that expression.”
Berry also noted that her relationship with Hunt, whom she met during the COVID-19 pandemic, is the longest she’s ever had. Before they finalized their divorce in 2023, the actress was married to Olivier Martinez, with whom she was locked in a years-long custody battle. She was also married to musician Eric Benét from 2001 to 2005 and former MLB player David Justice from 1993 to 1997.
Berry says she “finally” found her person in Hunt, so it comes as no surprise that when asked when they’ll tie the knot, the X-Men star’s answer was “soon.”
