[WARNING: This post contains MAJOR spoilers from Season 3 of Ginny & Georgia].

Abby (Katie Douglas) and Maxine (Sara Waisglass) have a complicated relationship on Ginny & Georgia. They’ve been friends since elementary school, but they’ve certainly had their issues.

While Max is out and proud about her sexuality (as Abby put it, she held a press conference in the third grade to come out), her friend keeps her personal life much closer to the vest. Even before Abby began exploring her sexuality in Season 3 by starting a relationship with her tutor, Tris (Noah Lamanna), she was very reserved when it came to sharing her private life, even with her closest friends.

But now that Abby is exploring her sexuality on the show, fans are pushing for her and Max to get together romantically. Ginny & Georgia has already been renewed for Season 4, so there’s already an opportunity to make this friends-to-lovers romance happen.

Things didn’t end great for Max in Season 3. She was feeling alienated from her friends and dealing with her brother Marcus’ (Felix Mallard) issues, despite her family’s pleas that everything was handled. Plus, she and Silver (Katelyn Well) ended their relationship.

The end of Season 3 saw the characters preparing for summer, with Abby heading off to be a camp counselor, leaving the future for her and Tris up in the air. While they seemed happy together, a summer apart could definitely change things, and some time apart might be exactly what Max and Abby’s friendship needs to potentially blossom into something more.

“It’s so fun to find the little moments the way that fans do and kind of expand on those and give new perspectives of it. I’m not saying it’s going to happen, I’m not. I don’t have anymore scripts. But I do like that a lot, and I’m onboard with it,” Waisglass teased while promoting Season 3.

Fans have been flooding social media with their support of the ship. “I’ll be getting abbymax in s4 we’ve been cooking for years i know it’s coming,” one person wrote on X, Another person pointed out, “Okay but the way that abby looks at max during the play (It’s just the scene where max comes on stage and they focus on showing how abby looks at her, that was definitely on purpose) oh boy she’s in love and she doesn’t know it.”

I’m so down to hop on the Max and Abby train. The show has sprinkled little breadcrumbs throughout the entire series that could point to a potential relationship between the ladies, and I think it’s time for it to happen. Talk about a slow burn!

As Waisglass pointed out, there haven’t been any super obvious signs that hint at Max and Abby getting together, but that makes it even more fun. It’s just them, deep down, knowing that there’s something there, but not fully acknowledging it until the timing is right. And I think in Season 4, the timing will be right!
