‘America’s Sweethearts’: What Did DCC’s Chandi Do in the Bahamas? Scandal Explained

Chandi Dayle is one of the main players on Season 2 of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. During the 2024 season, she was a six-year veteran and was named the first group leader of the squad.
Throughout the series, Chandi opened up about struggling to be “perfect all the time” as one of the faces of DCC. She was admittedly quieter than most of her counterparts and didn’t always feel confident in her position as a team leader.
Off the field, Chandi was in a relationship, but it was rocked by scandal during a team building trip to the Bahamas. At the time this was all happening in the fall of 2024, fans noticed Chandi’s absence during a few games, sparking a social media discussion about why she was MIA.
America’s Sweethearts finally answered all the questions and included commentary from Chandi herself. Scroll down to find out what went down.
What did Chandi do in the Bahamas?
During the Bahamas trip, “Chandi brought somebody into the room that no one had known, and a lot of people were just worried for their safety because they didn’t know who this individual was,” Jada Mclean explained.
KayDianna MacKenzie said that the team’s contracts state that things giving out specific locations, like hotels, is not allowed. “We still don’t know who this guy is,” she pointed out. “There are just so many unknowns.”
The rest of the team was told that Chandi would be “taking a break,” and it was unclear whether she would come back or not. KayDianna replaced her as first group leader.
“To other people, it came off as, ‘Oh my gosh, you put me in danger, you weren’t worried about my safety,’ but I think [Chandi] thought of that in an almost naive way,” Jada said. “She wasn’t thinking about that at all. She was just thinking about what she needed at the time.”
Later, Chandi explained the situation from her point of view. “I met someone and we shared similar things that have happened in our past,” she said. “I was just, like, kind of crumbling down and I was like, ‘Dang, I feel like I have no one here to talk to.’ So it’s nice to have someone to confide in. I broke a DCC rule and had time with my friend.”
She said the conversation with the unnamed man “helped” her in the moment. “It was the first time I feel like I mental-dumped everything and everything that was happening and everything that I’d gone through and everything that was making me feel and think certain things,” she continued. “I get it. It was probably the wrong place and time to do that, but selfishly, I had to do it for me because I feel like I was just, like, losing it.”
Did Chandi cheat on her boyfriend?
Chandi was adamant that she was not unfaithful. “Everyone can think it happened, but no,” she said. “I’m respectful of everything.”

The relationship ended after everything that went down. “I think the last thing I really said to him was, ‘I deserve better. I deserve to be treated better and so do you,'” Chandi shared. “We’re both not doing each other any service. We’re both hurting, both going through it.”
Did Chandi return to the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders?
Yes, she returned for her last game of the season, but she was no longer a group leader. “I kind of like not being in charge, it’s really nice,” she admitted. “I’m so happy just dancing now. I don’t have to think about what I’m doing or what I’m calling or anything like that. I don’t really have to think about anything anymore.”
Prior to her return, she said she “checked [herself] out and put a wall up” because of how much pressure she was feeling. “DCC is not even happy for me anymore because I don’t know myself,” she explained. “They expect you to wake up and be perfect every day and I can’t do it anymore. I really just wanted to dance and be happy, and I just haven’t been.”
After Chandi decided to come back, Director Kelli Finglass showed her support by adding, “She’s just become part of that group, and I think she’s done a great job for the situation she’s in.”
At the end of the season, Chandi was one of six squad members to hang up her uniform for good. She will not be returning for a seventh season.
