‘The Buccaneers’: Who Is Season 2’s New Handsome Politician? Meet Jacob Ifan

The Buccaneers established a strong roster of love interests last season — and it just grew by one more.
Season 2 started off with a bang, picking up right where we left off. Nan (Kristine Froseth) is still pining after Guy (Matthew Broome), even though she went through with marrying Theo (Guy Remmers). Mabel (Josie Totah) and Honoria (Mia Threapleton) are committed to making their relationship work. Conchita (Alisha Boe) and Richard (Josh Dylan) are every bit the happily married couple. But, if you remember correctly, Aubri Ibrag‘s Lizzy didn’t have any luck in the romance department.
After watching the Season 2 premiere episode, it appears the tides may be turning for Lizzy. At Nan’s wedding celebration, she catches the eye of a dreamy mystery man. Played by Welsh actor Jacob Ifan, the new character captured our attention as well, and we got to wondering — who exactly is the man behind the new character?
Who does Jacob Ifan play on The Buccaneers?
Theo puts a name to the face for Lizzy: Hector Robinson. “An upstanding citizen, member of Parliament, and that jawline,” he sums up. (He means that last part as a joke, but it’s valid!) We still don’t know much about Hector yet, though it’s safe to assume that as a politician, he isn’t titled. Later on in the episode, he has meeting at the House of Commons, crossing paths with Lizzy outside of her home. After a charming back-and-forth, he asks her to save him a dance at an upcoming ball.

What has Jacob Ifan been in before?
If Ifan looked familiar to you when he appeared in The Buccaneers premiere, it might be because you watched him lead the BBC police drama, Cuffs. He’s also no stranger to period dramas, since he played a vampire in A Discovery of Witches. His character Benjamin appeared in Seasons 2 and 3. His credits also include Rogue Heroes, Tree on a Hill, and Bang.
Who has Jacob Ifan dated?
On the other hand, you might’ve recognized him from his connection to House of the Dragon‘s Olivia Cooke. Their relationship was never confirmed, but they appeared on each other’s social media frequently in 2022. These days, the actor hasn’t publicly announced that he’s dating anyone.
