How did JoAnna and Nick Swisher meet?
The Swishers were introduced by a mutual friend in 2009. At the time, JoAnna was newly single, as she had ended her engagement to Trace Ayala less than one year earlier.
“I was pretty smitten from the very beginning, but I was playing it cool. I played it much more cool than he did,” JoAnna admitted to Us Weekly.
JoAnna and Nick started dating in August 2009 and were engaged by May 2010. They tied the knot that December in Palm Beach, Florida.
Do JoAnna and Nick Swisher have kids?
Yes, they are proud parents to two daughters. Their first child, Emerson, was born in May 2013, followed by Sailor in June 2016.

On Father’s Day 2025, JoAnna paid tribute to her husband on Instagram, writing, “It’s hard to describe how lucky we feel to be loved by you, @yourboyswish 💕 The magic and dedication you bring to our lives is unlike anything. Love you so much!”
In addition to their kids, they also have pets, including several dogs, some cats, and a hamster.
What does Nick Swisher do for a living?
Nick is a retired professional baseball player. During his pro career, which began in 2004, he played for the Oakland Athletics, Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, and Atlanta Braves. He won a World Series as a member of the Yankees in 2009.
Nick announced his retirement in February 2017. He is now a special advisor for the New York Yankees and co-owns Baseball United, the “first professional baseball league in the Middle East and South Asia.”
Following his retirement, Nick was an analyst for Fox Sports. Today, he is a baseball analyst for CBS Sports and Peacock.
Where do Joanna and Nick Swisher live?
The family has settled down in Georgia. Specifically, they live in Lake Oconee. They chose the location after JoAnna began filming Sweet Magnolias in Atlanta in 2017.
“I was commuting in and out of work, no problem; my husband made a million friends; and my daughters were the happiest they’ve ever been,” JoAnna told Southern Living. “I thought, ‘How could I ever deny my family this?'”
The couple used to own a home in Tampa, Florida, but they sold it in 2021.
