Romance Rumors
Did Kristin Davis & Chris Noth Date? ‘Sex & the City’ Star Reveals Their History

For years, rumors have swirled that former Sex and the City costars Kristin Davis and Chris Noth, aka Charlotte and Big, dated in real life. Cozy red carpet moments and a certain photo of Davis licking Noth’s face at the MTV Movie Awards in 2000 only fueled the speculation that these two were more than just friends.
Davis addressed the dating rumors head-on in the newest episode of her Are You a Charlotte? podcast. The actress answered fan questions and didn’t shy away from the one about her relationship with Noth. So, did Kristin Davis and Chris Noth really date back in the day?
“No! No, we did not,” Davis explained. “But there’s this picture that I fully understand why, why, why people would think that. I am licking his face.”
She added, “This is the main thing I want to say. If I was dating someone, I would not lick their face on the red carpet, right? Like, for me, there’s like a separation of church and state, right? So, if you’re dating somebody, you don’t go around with them. I mean, I have made a mistake occasionally of going around with people, always regretted it, always regretted being on a red carpet. I can only think of once that I was actually on a red carpet with someone I was dating, and the relationship ended very soon.”

Davis also revealed key context about the face-licking photo. She was “dating someone who is actually there, though obviously not in the picture where I’m licking Chris’ face for whatever stupid reason.” She called the moment that launched a thousand relationship theories an “embarrassing moment” for her.
“It’s really mortifying, and I can’t explain it except to say there was a lot of young energy, so I understand why people think that, but no, I never did,” she noted.
In contrast to her Sex and the City and And Just Like That character, who found love with Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler), Davis has never been married. ““It was never my goal, really, to get married,” she said in a previous episode of her podcast. The 60-year-old has two adopted children, Gemma and Wilson.
