Colin Donnell & Patti Murin Drop New Song Inspired By Romance Novel
Grab your headphones or your Bluetooth speaker. The worlds of Broadway, music, and romance books have collided. Hallmark and Chicago Med alums Colin Donnell and Patti Murin have released a brand-new song inspired by Ashley Poston‘s new novel, Sounds Like Love.
The talented couple blended their beautiful voices together for the ultimate music-meets-literature treat. Murin was narrating the audiobook for Poston’s latest book when she asked her husband if he could “write something for her to sing for lyrics that are in the book.”
Donnell, who is set to star in the upcoming Broadway revival of Ragtime, revealed that he spoke with Poston about writing a song for her novel. She came up with more lyrics, and they collaborated to make a “beautiful new tune to go along with her beautiful new book.”
The “Sounds Like Love” single was released on June 20 and is available wherever you get your music. “I can’t thank Patti and Colin enough for putting so much time and love into this collaboration! They breathed life into my lyrics, and it ended up becoming magic. They’re truly so, so talented,” Poston wrote on Instagram.
Hopefully, this is the start of a new trend for the musical power couple. Donnell and Murin have appeared in the same projects, including Chicago Med and Hallmark’s Love on Iceland and To Catch a Spy, over the years and released their first album together, Something Stupid, in 2022.
Murin, an avid reader, is an incredible audiobook narrator. She’s been the voice behind romance audiobooks like The Love Haters, The Paradise Problem, The Soulmate Equation, Last Night Was Fun, and more. (Keep up the romance novel music collabs, Colin and Patti!)
Just one day before the couple released “Sounds Like Love,” they celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary. Donnell and Murin met while costarring in Shakespeare in the Park’s Love’s Labour’s Lost. They have two daughters, Cecily and Lorelai.
“You are the best decision I’ve ever made. Happy 10 years @colindonnell, and thank you for sticking it out with me through the muddy bits, so we can revel in the miracle that is our life together,” Murin wrote on Instagram.
