‘Bridgerton’ Star Yerin Ha Reveals She ‘Was Petrified’ to Do Her First Intimacy Scene in Season 4

Bridgerton‘s fourth season is on the horizon, and along with it, sure-to-be steamy scenes for the leading couple, Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).
But what was it really like to film those sexier moments for the characters? It was Ha’s first-ever experience shooting intimate scenes, according to the star, who spoke to Glamour UK.
“I was petrified, it was like 9 am — robes off!” Ha recalled. Ultimately, the star managed to get over her fears, though. “I’m of the mindset that without fear and discomfort that you have to push past, you won’t grow, so I took it on as a challenge for myself to grow as an actor as opposed to doing this for anyone else,” she told the outlet.
While details about specific scenes or moments haven’t been officially shared by Netflix or Shondaland quite yet, Ha did tell us exclusively last fall that she was anticipating filming the “lake scene,” which comes from the book upon which Season 4 is based, An Offer From a Gentleman. Again, without official details, we can merely speculate based on what we know from the book, but in the “lake scene,” Sophie catches Benedict swimming naked in a lake.

It’s actually a rather pivotal point in the novel because it also prompts Benedict’s titular offer to ask Sophie to be his mistress. Hailing from different backgrounds, Benedict knows society won’t allow him to marry a woman outside of family’s position in the social hierarchy, but as he’s begun falling in love with Sophie, he seeks out an alternative to the conundrum.
In the book, Sophie almost gives in, and the characters share a passionate moment at the lake before she ultimately shuts it down. Whether or not Ha is referring to the lake scene or not here, it’s the first real tease fans are getting regarding Bridgerton Season 4’s steamier moments.
As previously revealed, Sophie and Benedict will meet at the masquerade ball hosted by his mother, but he’ll only know Sophie as “The Lady in Silver,” unaware that the woman who enchanted him is actually from a class outside of his own. “Benedict falls in love with Sophie as a person, and it’s about fighting for the person on the inside,” Ha revealed.
In other words, we cannot wait to see what’s in store for this pair as we gear up for Season 4’s 2026 arrival. Let us know what you think of Ha’s take on shooting intimacy scenes in the comments section below, and stay tuned for any additional Bridgerton updates in the months ahead.
