Soap staple Eva LaRue is set to bid farewell to General Hospital and the character of Natalia Rogers-Ramirez. Natalia and love interest Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) shared an emotional goodbye in the June 30 episode.

LaRue told Soap Opera Digest that fans never took to Natalia and Sonny’s relationship because they “just hated my character so much.” She added, “I was so vilified that no matter what [the writers] did, it just wasn’t a solid enough rehabilitation that they were gonna buy me with Sonny.”

In real life, LaRue has found love several times in her life. Her most high-profile romance was with her All My Children costar. Art imitated life for LaRue. So, what is the soap star’s relationship status today? Swooon is taking a look back at LaRue’s relationship history.

Is Eva LaRue dating anyone?

At the moment, it doesn’t appear LaRue is dating anyone publicly. She was last married to Joe Cappuccio from 2010 to 2014.

In 2020, LaRue looked back on what she learned from her third marriage. “It’s more about forgiving yourself, no matter what somebody else did,” she told Closer. “It’s human to blame the other person. But when we process it, we see things we didn’t do the way we wish we had. I wasn’t really able, until the last five to 10 years, to say, ‘I need to not focus on anybody else. I have to look at things I don’t like about me.'”

What happened to Eva LaRue’s ex-husband John Callahan?

LaRue and John Callahan met and fell in love on the set of soap opera All My Children, where they played onscreen love interests Maria Santos and Edmund Grey. They got married on November 30, 1996, and their daughter, Kaya McKenna Callahan, was born in 2001. LaRue and Callahan divorced in 2005. Despite their split, LaRue told Michael Fairman TV that she and Callahan “remained really great friends all the way.”

Callahan died on March 28, 2020, after suffering a stroke. He was 66 years old. The actor had heart procedures just before death. His daughter with LaRue, Kaya, was supposed to go down to Palm Springs to spend the weekend with her father. When Callahan didn’t text back the morning after his procedures, LaRue had a friend go check on her ex-husband. Callahan was found unresponsive in his bathroom.

LaRue called Callahan’s sudden death a complete “shock” to everyone. While opening up about their grief, LaRue recalled, “[Kaya] said, ‘You know what’s weird?  I guess I never pictured dad getting old, and I always wondered why, and now I know.’ When I would get on John about his heart or his health, he used to always say, ‘Oh, don’t worry Evala, (he always called me ‘Evala’). I’m going to be here. I’m going to be here a long time. I’m fine. I’m going to be here to walk Kaya down the aisle and see her kids and all that. Stop worrying,’ Every time he said it to me, something in my gut said, ‘I don’t think he is. I don’t think he is,’  but I always just dismissed that.  But never in my wildest dreams did I think John wouldn’t make it to her high school graduation. He was only 66.”

The actress admitted to Closer that Callahan was “still on my emergency contact lists and always wanted to know my travel plans. He’d check in when I landed and got back home again [to see if ] I was safe. Nobody else was caring on that level. I will miss that forever.”

How long was Eva LaRue married to John O’Hurley?

The CSI: Miami alum was married to John O’Hurley from 1992 to 1994. LaRue told Closer that she and O’Hurley are “still great friends” today. She opened up about their brief marriage and revealed, “There was a funny, pretentious character that he would go into at home when he was goofing around, even before he did Seinfeld.”
