‘Today’s Savannah Guthrie Makes New Comment About Divorce From Mark Orchard

It’s been 16 years since Savannah Guthrie divorced her first husband, Mark Orchard, and she rarely talks about the split. She avoided discussion her first divorce in her new book, Mostly What God Does: Reflections on Seeking and Finding His Love Everywhere.
She included a disclaimer in the book that warned readers there were certain topics she was going to mention, but not go in-depth about. Her divorce was one of them.
“I don’t wanna talk about getting divorced,” Guthrie explained on the Reclaiming podcast with Monica Lewinsky. “It was horrible and sad and it broke my heart and it took me years to recover. And I’m not blaming anyone, but I don’t really want to get into it. So I wrote this whole [disclaimer] in my mind, and I was like … can I really write this? And I wrote it and I sent it off, and, you know what? I never did get any pushback.”
The Today host said she included the disclaimer to explain to readers that she has “experienced adversity” but didn’t want to dive deeper into it because “some of it was just too personal and too embarrassing.”
Guthrie is now happily married to Michael Feldman. They tied the knot in 2014. They have two children, whom Guthrie gave birth to when she was 42 and 44.
Before she found her happily-ever-after, she was married to Orchard from 2004 to 2009. “When I was 36, I got divorced,” she previously told Us Weekly. “I wasn’t married long. That was a huge disappointment. I was pretty sure that I had lost my opportunity [to become a mom] and more or less ruined my life. All I ever really wanted was to fall in love, be a mom, and have a family. I don’t know if it’s acceptable to admit these days, but that’s kind of how I was. I wanted to do something important and meaningful, but I really wanted a family.”
