It’s been almost two years since Jonathan Scott popped the question to Zooey Deschanel, but the couple still aren’t in any rush to walk down the aisle.

“We are the worst,” Scott joked when asked about his and the actress’ wedding plans on the Friday, July 11, episode of Today With Jenna & Friends. “We’ve been having so much fun. We’ve been traveling. We have not planned anything.”

Jenna Bush Hager questioned Scott’s update, stating that her guest cohost, Dwyane Wade, will “mind if all of sudden in People magazine, y’all are getting married on some ranch and you’ve told us you’ve planned nothing.” She asked, “So, is that true?”

“Let me just say, there is an idea planned in our minds and you will be the first person [to know],” Scott said while winking at the hosting duo.

Bush Hager pointed out that she and Wade were already in the wedding spirit with their matching all-white outfits. “So, if you need officiants, we’re happy [to do it],” she pitched. Wade even suggested that they throw an impromptu wedding on the show that day.

“And we’ll do the wedding on the Plaza when we come back. No?” Bush Hager quipped, after which Scott joked he would be “single” if that were to happen.

The Property Brothers star and the New Girl alum met while filming a 2019 episode of Carpool Karaoke with their siblings — Drew Scott and Emily Deschanel — and made their relationship Instagram official that October.

Jonathan proposed to his now-fiancée during an August 2023 trip to Scotland. “Forever starts now!!! 🥰♾️🥰,” Zooey captioned an Instagram photo of herself flashing her ring.

While Jonathan and Zooey’s relationship status won’t be changing in the near future, they recently took on the role of cat parents by adopting three kittens earlier this year. “We just had triplets. No, that’s not true. We have three kittens,” Jonathan said of their new pets on Jenna & Friends.

Jonathan explained that Deschanel’s kids — Elsie and Charlie — “really wanted to have a cat,” so he signed on to adopt just one. “And then, Zooey presented all this literature on how two cats is better than one,” he added. “And then, before I knew it, we all of a sudden had three cats, and I was totally defeated.” (Zooey shares her children with her ex-husband Jacob Pechenik.)

Jonathan introduced the kittens — named Poppy, Pickle, and Dove — to fans via Instagram on February 20. “It might be happening. I might be becoming a cat guy,” he said in a clip before showing clips of himself hugging and kissing the cats.

He has continued to embrace his role as a cat dad by sharing more pics of his adorable pets via Instagram. “Which Monday mood are you today? I’m three (Dove) 😹,” he captioned a slideshow featuring funny photos of the three cats. The third slide featured Dove looking sleepy while lying on one of its owners’ legs.
