‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Stars Reveal Their Favorite Rom-Coms of All Time (VIDEO)
The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s third and final season is nearly here, and while the show promises to serve up plenty of drama amid the ongoing Team Conrad vs. Team Jeremiah debate, we couldn’t help but ask the stars about what rom-com movies they enjoy watching when they’re not busy entertaining the masses with their hit Prime Video series.
As fans of the show based on Jenny Han‘s books already know, protagonist Belly Conklin (Lola Tung) loves old movies, among which is the Audrey Hepburn classic Sabrina, which mirrors her own love triangle with Fisher brothers, Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), but Tung’s own favorites differed from that of her characters.
“Ooooh, I know mine,” Tung sings with excitement when asked about which rom-com is her all-time favorite. “I love When Harry Met Sally… I love that movie,” she muses. “I love watching them walk through New York and through the park, and it’s so funny and they’re both so charming…”

But as much as Tung was singing When Harry Met Sally‘s praises, she also had to give a shoutout to another New York-set classic. “But you know what’s also good?” she says. “Moonstruck.” Tung goes on to recite a bit of dialogue that seems to baffle Briney and Casalegno, who seem less familiar with the title as Tung explains it features Cher and Nicolas Cage.
When it comes to Briney, his Red Sox loyalty shines through with his pick: “My favorite growing up was Fever Pitch, I love that movie. I love the Red Sox,” he gushes. Meanwhile, Casalegno goes with the crowd-pleasing Crazy, Stupid, Love starring Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Emma Stone, to name a few. Who doesn’t enjoy a Dan Fogelman joint?
As for author and showrunner Jenny Han, she admits, “Sleepless in Seattle [and] Bridget Jones’s Diary. Those are my top two,” before she adds, “I love You’ve Got Mail also.”
Rain Spencer and Sean Kaufman have the same pick: 10 Things I Hate About You. Find out why in the full video interview, above, which also features answers from Jackie Chung and Tom Everett Scott. And don’t miss the cast onscreen when The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 arrives on Prime Video.
