‘The Map That Leads to You’: Everything We Know About Madelyn Cline & KJ Apa’s Rom-Dram
A new rom-dram has entered the chat, and if you’re a Riverdale or Outer Banks fan, you’ll find it stars some familiar faces.
KJ Apa and Madelyn Cline are at the helm of Prime Video’s The Map That Leads to You, which is coming out later this summer. Based on the 2017 book by J.P. Monninger, the movie is a strangers-to-lovers romance that unfolds during a European vacation. Cline’s Heather, who’s the stick-to-the-itinerary type, crosses paths with Apa’s Jack, who turns her world on its head.

Who is in The Map That Leads to You cast?
Apa and Cline are the two romantic leads, Heather and Jack. Sofia Wylie (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) and Madison Thompson (Ozark) star as Heather’s friends and travel buddies, Connie and Amy. Rounding out the rest of the cast are Orlando Norman (who plays Jack’s friend, Raef) and Josh Lucas.
What is The Map That Leads to You about?
The rom-dram follows Heather as she embarks on a post-grad trip around Europe, alongside her two best friends. There, she meets Jack, who’s using his grandfather’s journal as a travel guide. Heather finds her vacation plans (and her life) upended as she goes on an emotional journey with Jack. “Secrets, life choices, and hidden truths” will test them along the way, according to the film’s logline.

Good news: Prime Video just dropped the movie’s trailer on July 15, which you can watch below.
We first see Cline talking over her trip plans with her friends, who are more of the go-with-the-flow type. Amidst their sightseeing and partying around Europe, her friends notice that a boy followed them out of the train station. It turns out to be Jack, a stranger who Heather kissed during the journey. She extends her time abroad to tag along with Jack, who’s going wherever his grandpa’s journal takes him.
As they bond, Heather struggles with the idea of leaving Jack eventually. “I’m getting on a plane to New York, and the thought of being a continent away from you is unbearable, or is that just me?” she tells him. We have a feeling we’re going to need our tissues for this one.
