Hallmark Star Tyler Hynes Weighs In on ‘It Was Always You’ Sequel Possibility

For many Hallmark fans, It Was Always You with Tyler Hynes and Erin Krakow is among their favorite Hallmark movies. The 2021 film chronicles Elizabeth’s (Krakow) journey in figuring out who and what she truly wants out of life. When her fiancé’s free-spirited brother, David (Hynes), returns home, he steps right into the path Elizabeth is on.
Ultimately, Elizabeth’s heart lies with David, not her uptight fiancé, George (Giles Panton). Seriously, who didn’t swoon over David’s declaration of love: “For me, it’s always been you. I loved you yesterday. I love you today. I’ll love you tomorrow.” So, could we get a glimpse of David and Elizabeth’s tomorrow in a sequel? Swooon went straight to Tyler Hynes for the answer.
Initially, Hynes asked Swooon if we even wanted to see a sequel to It Was Always You, and the answer was a resounding yes. “I think it’s funny because with the sequels, it won’t have the same impact as the initial because there’s nothing like falling in love,” the Christmas at Sea star said. “There’s nothing like that. But there’s things that are very close, and I think if yourself and others who have really voiced that opinion long enough, then maybe that will be. Maybe that will be in the cards. I think it would be fun to maybe explore that.”
He added, “When people raise their voice about these things, solutions do come about. It Was Always You and Erin and I working together is something that has been shared for quite some time, and though the wheels in charge may sometimes take a minute, we do get there. I think that we’re a small enough, little family-run thing that it happens more than other places. I think the audience can ask for whatever they want, and it will most likely materialize.”
Even if a sequel didn’t happen, we’d just like to see Hynes and Krakow share the screen again, because their chemistry was top-tier. “We adore each other deeply,” Hynes gushed about Krakow. “I have the utmost respect for that woman, and that movie is entirely the success it was based on her unbelievable talents.”
