‘Bachelor in Paradise’: Jonathon, 28, Contemplates Romance With April, 67, After Being Dumped
Are we about to get our first Golden/young crossover on Bachelor in Paradise? The seniors arrived during Episode 3 on Tuesday, July 15, and 67-year-old April Kirkwood didn’t shy away from flirting with the younger contestants.
One guy who caught her eye was Jonathon Johnson, who’s 28. She threw a flirty comment his way, which eventually had him seemingly considering striking up a romance with her.
Things had taken a turn for Jonathon after Alexe Godin said she didn’t feel a spark in their relationship and didn’t want to continue pursuing things. He also previously went on a date with Jill Chin, but admittedly only felt friend vibes with her. As the group was heading to their respective rooms after the Goldens’ arrival, April told Jonathon, “Second door to the right if you need me!”
He immediately filled the rest of the group in, and then said in a confessional, “My sweet, sweet, April. I knew there was a lot of nature in Costa Rica, but I didn’t realize there were gonna be so many cougars!”
The next day, Jonathon tried to rekindle things with Jill because he realized he had no idea who he’d be getting a rose from. However, she wasn’t down for him using her for a rose, and although he tried to apologize, their conversation didn’t end on the best note, which left Jonathon fearing he’d be eliminated at the rose ceremony.
“Is April an option?” one producer asked him, and he seemed to consider it. “In Paradise, there’s no age limit,” Jonathon said. “Why not see what could happen?”
Earlier in the episode, host Jesse Palmer told the contestants they were not expected “to cross over that generational line,” but the option was still there if anyone wanted to take it. (“Just don’t make it weird,” Palmer urged)
Meanwhile, April hasn’t had any trouble sparking up a connection with the guys who are her own age. She kissed Jack Lencioni in the pool and also got flirty with Kim Buike. We’ll have to see which direction she decides to go in!
