While some fans might’ve been shocked when Love Island USA‘s Huda Mustafa and Chris Seeley ended their relationship in the Season 7 finale, Mustafa herself wasn’t. In fact, she knew how their date was going to play out with “100%” certainty.

When Swooon caught up with the Season 7 breakout star, Mustafa reflected on all of the factors that led to her decision to just be friends with Seeley. Some of those issues were brought up by the then-couple on camera — the two couldn’t seem to agree on the matter of PDA, for one — but Mustafa revealed there’s more to the story.

“There were a lot of things that weren’t shown that ultimately made me come to my decision,” she began. “Those were so important to show because I think it was kind of an out-of-the-blue thing for a lot of people, and like, in actuality, it wasn’t out of the blue.”

What does Mustafa feel like viewers didn’t see? “He would make commentary about women in ways that I didn’t want to hear off-camera,” she claimed. “I would hear those things, and I was like, ‘OK, I don’t want to hear that.’ Like, you could talk about that with your boys. Don’t talk about it in front of me.”

She also alleged that Seeley had a “wandering eye” while they were a couple. “And there were times he would gravitate toward other women, and if I was there, he would ignore me,” she said. “He would just not acknowledge me when I walked into a room.”

Mustafa thinks anyone would’ve ended things had they been in her shoes. “It wasn’t a good feeling,” she admitted. “It’s like, those are basic things. Bare f**king minimum. Why am I going to settle?”

Though Mustafa anticipated the breakup going into their final date, she still feels like Seeley “play[ed] victim” and pushed her in that direction, so he could avoid making a decision himself.

“People don’t realize the way certain people act in situations to make themselves look better,” she said. “I wanted it to be a collective decision. But it was kind of all on me in that moment, and it was honestly unfair because I felt like all the pressure.”
