Hallmark Star Wes Brown Reveals Exciting Details About His ‘Newport Christmas’ Movie
Rest assured, Wes Brown will be bringing the holiday cheer this Countdown to Christmas with his brand-new movie. The Hallmark veteran is teaming up with Ginna Claire Mason for A Newport Christmas, which will delight fans of The Gilded Age.
Brown, whose Hallmark career started back in 2011, is thrilled about his new Christmas movie and the surprise that’s in store for fans. Swooon spoke with the actor and was able to get some new details about A Newport Christmas.
“It’s a time travel piece. [Ginna’s character is] coming back from the Gilded Age era of Newport, Rhode Island, and she comes to the year 2025. She does a great job with this character. She’s so good. She’s so funny.”
Mason plays Ella, a Newport socialite in 1905 who dreams of using her wealth for good. When her father intends for her to get engaged to a man she’s never met at the Christmas Eve ball, Ella takes a breather on her schooner. When she sees a comet, she wishes for a different life. Suddenly, she finds Nick (Brown), a sailor and local Newport historian, aboard her schooner. Suddenly, she realizes she’s traveled to 2025. Ella and Nick have to work together so she can travel back through time. Along the way, sparks fly.
But that’s not all, Hallmark fans. Brown and Mason will be releasing a song in addition to the movie. These two artists have always wanted to collaborate musically and knew this was the right time. When he was in his hotel room during production, Mason sent Brown a song that her friend had written. He immediately listened to the track.

“I stopped everything I was doing, and I had to text her back and say, ‘Wait, this is the song you want us to do?’ And she goes, ‘Yeah.’ And I was like, ‘Do I need to sign a contract? Because please don’t ask anyone else. Your friend did a phenomenal job writing it,'” Brown revealed. “Right after we wrapped our movie, we went to Nashville and recorded a song called ‘Timeless Christmas’ that will be out, I’m assuming, probably early November. On top of a Christmas movie with her, I have a Christmas song coming out with her. I’m super pumped. It’s so much fun.”
He added, “We actually played it for everyone at the Boston Red Sox game that was in our suite that we got to go do, and there was a really good reception, so I was super pleased.”
Before A Newport Christmas, Brown will reprise the role of Jared in Haul Out the Halloween, the third movie in the Haul Out the Holly movie series. The actor has worked with Hallmark faves like Lacey Chabert and Erin Cahill, but there are still some actresses he’d love to star alongside.
“I would love to work with Nikki DeLoach,” Brown said. “Kimberly Sustad, I’ve never done one with her. Sarah drew, actually. I know all of the ladies, so it’s just the ones that I haven’t. I love them all, so each one that I haven’t is on the list.”
