Has Emily Henry found her next leading man?

The romance author recently followed David Corenswet on Instagram, which sent many readers into a tizzy. Henry’s People We Meet on Vacation has already found its actors for Poppy and Alex, but the upcoming adaptations of Beach Read, Book Lovers, Happy Place, and Funny Story have yet to reveal their casts — and fans are calling for the Superman star to bring one of Henry’s characters to life.

The majority appear to envision Corenswet as brooding book editor Charlie Lastra, the love interest in Book Lovers. The 2022 novel follows Nora, a workaholic literary agent who goes on vacation to a small town in North Carolina. Even though the trip was intended to be an escape from her life in the city, she runs into Charlie there, who she’s had some not-so-friendly run-ins with in the past. The movie adaptation was announced in 2023, and Girls screenwriter Sarah Heyward is set to pen the script.

Though fans are still waiting on official casting news, Henry seems to agree that Corenswet would make a good Charlie. “Get him on board and I’m in 💯,” she wrote in a July 20 Instagram comment.

Though many fans are eager to see the Superman star in a Henry rom-com, not all are in agreement about which character he should play. “Emily I need you to ignore everyone who says get david corenswet for charlie,” an Instagram user pleaded. “GET HIM FOR HAYDEN [in Great Big Beautiful Life] AND MY LIFE IS YOURS.”

“Everyone saying charlie lastra but why do i also see him as wyn connor….” an X user suggested, referring to Happy Place‘s love interest.
