‘The Hunting Wives’: Should Margo & Sophie Be Endgame After Twisty Season 1? (POLL)

We didn’t go into The Hunting Wives expecting a fiery queer romance. The new Netflix drama revolves around a gaggle of conservative, East Texan housewives, but it didn’t take long for us to realize that there’s a lot more to them than meets the eye. Especially when it comes to the group’s ringleader, Margo Banks (Malin Åkerman).
Margo, whose husband is a Republican political candidate (Dermot Mulroney), starts seducing liberal Sophie (Brittany Snow) as soon as she moves to their small town. From there, Sophie quickly falls under her spell, shedding her anxious, uptight exterior. “There’s something about them coming together that brings out the authenticity of who they are because they’re both wearing certain veneers when we meet them — protective layers, if you want to say so much,” Akerman told TV Insider.
Their affair takes a turn when a local teenager, Abby (Madison Wolfe), is murdered near Margo’s lake house. When Sophie is implicated — her gun was used to commit the crime — she sets out to find the real culprit. Lo and behold, by the end of the season, Margo tells her lover that she was the one to end Abby’s life. (Abby was going to expose Margo’s relationship with her friend’s teenage son.)
At that point, the police already found another suspect for Abby’s murder and closed the case, so Sophie is the only one who knows Margo’s secret.
Factor in that Sophie ran over Margo’s brother and hid his body, and things definitely aren’t looking good for their romance by the end of Season 1. Though The Hunting Wives hasn’t yet been renewed for Season 2, we’re already thinking ahead: Should Margo and Sophie still be endgame, despite all the chaos? Are they twisted soulmates or should they sever ties completely?
