‘When Calls the Heart’: Who Is Lucas’ Best Love Interest, Elizabeth or Edie? (POLL)
We just want Lucas Bouchard to be happy! Chris McNally joined When Calls the Heart in Season 6 and quickly became a beloved member of the Hearties family. After the tragic loss of her husband, Jack (Daniel Lissing), Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) slowly but surely opened her heart again to Lucas.
Elizabeth and Lucas developed a strong relationship and even got engaged at the end of Season 9. They were incredible partners, and you could totally envision them spending the rest of their days together. However, their lives went down different paths, which ultimately caused their split. There’s no bad blood between them, and they look back at their relationship fondly.
As Elizabeth realized her long-simmering feelings for Nathan (Kevin McGarry), Lucas’ love life took a backseat. Frankly, he barely had time for romance as he ran and won the race for governor and also got shot! The guy’s been busy.
However, we felt sparks when lawyer Edie Martell (Miranda Macdougall) was introduced in Season 12. They met in Capital City and worked together on his plans for Goldie National Park. Nothing’s happened between these two just yet, besides a working dinner, but the seeds have been planted.
Could Edie end up being the best match for Lucas? Only time will tell. They are both in similar places in their lives and careers, so that’s a huge plus. Ahead of Season 12, Swooon spoke with McNally about Lucas’ feelings about Nathan and Elizabeth’s relationship. “He’s happy for her, but it obviously still stings,” he said at the time. “But I don’t think in Lucas’ mind there’s any changing this course. It’s sort of the path has been set. He is coming to terms with it, and he’s at peace with it. Does he wish that it was a different path? Yes, but at the end of the day, he really cares for Elizabeth and wants her to be happy.”
Despite Elizabeth and Nathan being blissfully happy together, there are still many Elizabeth and Lucas fans out there who want a reconciliation between the two.
