‘The Buccaneers’: Is Lizzy’s Affair with Theo Really a Betrayal to Nan? (POLL)
Even though Lizzy and Theo’s affair took a backseat in the latest episode of The Buccaneers — Richard’s tragic death is still the biggest talking point — fans are already thinking ahead to their relationship being exposed. Namely, they’re debating how Nan is going to react if she finds out her husband and best friend are sneaking around behind her back.
Based on an interview clip circulating on X, it seems less a matter of if Nan finds out and more a matter of when. In the video, Kristine Frøseth questioned what the fallout will look like when her character finds out about Theo (Guy Remmers) and Lizzy (Aubri Ibrag). “I’m actually more curious about how Nan and Lizzy are going to keep being friends because it’s such a big betrayal, and yeah, how do you forgive something like that and move forward?” she said.
As we hurtle toward the finale episode, we’ve found ourselves wondering: Is Lizzy really betraying Nan? Nan is fully committed to fighting for a relationship with Guy. There’s not an ounce of love between herself and Theo at this point in the season, and Nan makes that clear to Lizzy when she goes after Guy (Matthew Broome) in Italy.
Granted, Theo and Lizzy still keeping their affair a secret from Nan is a little morally grey. Should Lizzy have asked Nan for her blessing before pursuing her husband? It’s complicated, to say the least.
