‘Black Dagger Brotherhood’ Season 2: Everything We Know About the Show’s Future
Passionflix may not be on everyone’s radar, but it should be if you love spicy and faithful adaptations of your favorite romance series. The streaming service released the first season of its Black Dagger Brotherhood series last year, and fans have been anxiously waiting for any and all Season 2 news.
Passionflix CEO Tosca Musk recently shared an exciting update that will have everyone watching the J.R. Ward vampire series hyped for what’s happening in 2026. Season 1 adapted Ward’s Dark Lover novel and introduced us to the Brotherhood via Wrath (Robert Maaser), king of the vampires, and his love story with Beth (Olivia Grace Applegate).
Wrath’s best friend, Darius (Piotr Wikowski), asked Wrath to supervise his half-human daughter’s transition to being a vampire before Darius’ untimely death. Wrath reluctantly agreed, but quickly found that staying away from Beth was impossible, and the two fell madly in love as she was introduced to the vampire world.
Of course, hooking up with Wrath also meant accepting his brothers into her life. The eponymous Brotherhood includes Rhage (Alexander Cubis), Tohrment (Joel Cederberg), Zsadist (Andrew Biernat), Vishous (Sia Zami), and Phury (Zack Ignoffo), who all have their own books in the J.R. Ward book series. With the success of Black Dagger Brotherhood Season 1, fans are clamoring for when they can return to the Black Dagger Brotherhood world. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming season.
When will Black Dagger Brotherhood Season 2 premiere?
Back in June 2025, series star Sia Zami confirmed on the Astras Awards red carpet that Season 2 is on the way, so we’ve just been waiting for the dates when we can inhale another season through our eyeballs.
In December, Musk shared a status update on Black Dagger Brotherhood Season 2. “We cast a couple of our characters, our very important characters, for Season 2 of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, and that’s so exciting,” she said in an Instagram video. “J.R. Ward and I are very happy with the people that we have chosen to come on for Season 2.”

Season 2 was confirmed early in the Season 1 run, which means that it has been in development for a while. Given the casting news from Musk, we’ll likely be seeing Season 2 in late 2026.
Who will be the star of Black Dagger Brotherhood Season 2?
If the series goes in book order, then Lover Eternal is the next book in the series to be adapted. That means that Rhage is the next brother to step into the spotlight.
However, Cubis was spotted on social media reading Book 4 in the series, Lover Revealed, which focuses on ex-cop Butch (Michael Roark) and vampire heiress Marissa’s (Victory Van Tuyl) love story. Could Season 2 be combining two books in the series? It’s possible!
What is Black Dagger Brotherhood Season 2 about?
If Black Dagger Brotherhood goes with the Lover Eternal storyline, then it’s time for Rhage and Mary’s love story. Known as the ladies’ man of the group, Rhage lives with a unique curse, unpredictably transforming into a terrifying and uncontrollable dragon creature known as The Beast, which fans got a glimpse of in Season 1. He eventually crosses paths with a human named Mary, a cancer survivor who ends up on the lessers’ hit list and must depend on the Black Dagger Brotherhood for protection. Rhage and Mary find themselves inexplicably drawn to each other, despite the fact that the relationships between vampires and humans don’t usually have happy endings.
This book also introduces other fan favorite characters from the novels, like Bella, a beautiful vampire who becomes entangled with the twins, Zsadist and Phury, as well as John Matthew, a pre-trans vampire who grew up in the human world and has a mysterious connection (which was teased in the post-credits scene of Season 1) to the Brotherhood.
Who can we expect to see in the cast of Black Dagger Brotherhood Season 2?
We expect the majority of the brothers to be back, which includes:
Alexander Cubis as Rhage
Joel Cederberg as Tohr
Andrew Biernat as Zsadist
Sia Zami as Vishous
Zack Ignoffo as Phury
Season 2 will likely feature the returns of Michael Roark as Butch and Victory Van Tuyl as Marissa. Robert Maaser and Olivia Grace Applegate are also expected to return as Wrath and Beth, though potentially in a reduced capacity as the series moves on to the other brothers and their love stories. We are eagerly awaiting casting news for Mary, Bella, and John Matthew.
Who will direct Black Dagger Brotherhood Season 2?
Musk directed all of Season 1. In her podcast chat about the Season 1 finale with Ward, she hinted that she’d be willing to do it again, so it is expected she’ll be behind the lens for Season 2 as well.
