‘Outer Banks’ Star Chase Stokes & Kelsea Ballerini Split After More Than 2 Years Together
Chase Stokes and Kelsea Ballerini have called it quits. After weeks of online speculation that their romance has run its course, news of the pair’s split was confirmed on Sunday, September 14.
A rep for Ballerini confirmed the news to People just two days after Stokes posted a birthday tribute to Ballerini on Instagram.
“They’re two adults who gave it their all and tried to do everything they could to make it work, but ultimately couldn’t. It happens,” a source told the outlet.
The Outer Banks star and “Hole in the Bottle” singer first connected in December 2022 when she slid into his DMs on Instagram. Ballerini was fresh off her split from husband Morgan Evans, whom she married in 2018, at the time. Fans first caught wind of the romance just weeks later in January 2023 when the pair attended the the College Football National Championship game. By March 2023, they officially went public.
Earlier this year, Ballerini was on tour promoting her album Patterns, and Stokes was in the crowd at several shows. She also spent time in South Carolina while he was at work filming the fifth and final season of Outer Banks. Their most recent public appearance as at a Netflix Tudum event for the show at the end of May.
However, in recent weeks, fans noticed that Ballerini unfollowed the actor on Instagram, and rumors began circulating that they had broken up.
Stokes has been working on Season 5 of Outer Banks with ex-girlfriend Madelyn Cline, whom he met while filming Season 1 of the show in 2019. They split in November 2021 but have amicably continued working together since. Ballerini has been supportive of Stokes’ working relationship with his ex in the past.
“I met her, and I talked to her, and she’s lovely,” she said on the Call Her Daddy podcast. “I think she’s wildly talented. I think the internet did its best to make it really weird and it just didn’t work for them. I’m stoked to be on set and vibe with everyone. At the end of the day, I’m a girls’ girl, I don’t buy into the bulls**t. They have a beautiful working relationship. I’m excited to hang with her.”
Cline was most recently romantically linked to Zack Bia after they were spotted out together in June.
