‘General Hospital’s Vanessa Marcil Reunites With Maurice Benard & Brings a Special Guest
Who else thinks it’s time for Vanessa Marcil to come back to General Hospital? Marcil had a sweet reunion with her longtime onscreen love Maurice Benard, but it wasn’t for the soap. (We’re still holding out hope she’ll return soon, though!)
Marcil and Benard’s Brenda and Sonny remain one of GH’s most iconic supercouples. These soap vets have worked together on and off for decades and consistently bring that palpable chemistry whenever they’re on GH. Their working history has allowed them to form a close friendship offscreen as well.
On August 7, Marcil posted videos from her recent visit to Benard’s ranch. Benard could be seen in the videos Marcil filmed as he took her and her fiancé, MC Martin, around his property. He talked about his goats and alpacas with Martin, and Marcil adorably referred to their friendship as a “bromance.” Benard shared Marcil’s videos on his Instagram Stories.

Back in September 2024, Marcil was one of the guests invited to celebrate the birthday of Benard’s wife, Paula Benard. As Paula greeted her birthday guests before dinner in a video shared by her husband, she gave Marcil a hug.
Benard and Marcil’s friendship began in the early 1990s when their GH characters were paired together. Sonny and Brenda have always had a passionate and explosive relationship full of highs and lows. Their characters got married 2011 but divorced later that year. Sonny and Brenda shared one last kiss before Marcil’s latest exit in 2013.
Back in 2023, Marcil opened about her bond with the “very sentimental” Benard. “But I will tell you the most important thing that you all need to know, and you can spread the word through all those other fan bases…Mo loves me the most,” she told fans during a live chat with fans via Coastal Entertainment.
She also addressed her future with GH and expressed interest in returning to Port Charles. “There’s no way that it won’t happen,” Marcil said. “You know, I hate to even say the thing, so I won’t say the thing, but it’ll happen eventually. It’s like I wouldn’t have a career, we wouldn’t have the beautiful lives we have if they hadn’t even my first shot there, so I’ll always honor, you know, where I came from.”
