Billy Joel has entered The Summer I Turned Pretty chat.

In the August 7 episode, the Prime Video series name-drops the music icon when Belly (Lola Tung) goes to a bakery to inquire about a wedding cake for her and Jeremiah’s (Gavin Casalegno) wedding. “Billy Joel picked that cake for his 70th,” the employee tells Belly.

Two days later, Joel shared the scene on his Instagram page, captioning his post, “Are you Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah?” The “Piano Man” singer’s daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, commented, “Team Conrad always! ❤️ Cuz loving him was red…”

Alexa Ray is clearly a fan of the show. She posted a clip of the bakery scene on her Instagram Story and wrote, “So I’m watching the latest episode of @thesummeriturnedprettyy and guess who gets a mention?” She also tagged her father.

Joel didn’t explicitly say what team he’s on, but there’s evidence that he’s Team Conrad (Christopher Briney). He shared a graphic on his Instagram Story featuring pro-Conrad messages. In addition to Alexa Ray, Joel included comments that read, “Team Conrad for his uptown girl,” and, “There’s only one answer and it’s Team Conrad. Team Jeremiah is a Big Man on Mulberry Street pretending to be a Big Shot!”

Over the last three seasons, The Summer I Turned Pretty has had a stellar soundtrack, featuring Taylor Swift hits, Fleetwood Mac classics, and recently tracks like “Cherry” by Harry Styles and “Linger” by Royal Otis. Surprisingly, a Billy Joel song has not been used in the show… yet.

There are still six episodes left to go before the series finale, plenty of time for The Summer I Turned Pretty to have a Billy Joel needledrop somewhere in there. We’re thinking “Uptown Girl” (a popular but predictable choice), “You’re My Home,” or “The Longest Night.”
