Travis Kelce Reveals Rare Details About How He & Taylor Swift Fell in Love
From shooting his shot with a friendship bracelet to sitting by her side during the announcement of The Life of a Showgirl, no one is a bigger Swiftie than Travis Kelce.
On August 12, mere hours after Taylor Swift announced the title of her 12th studio album — which is very glitter gel pen-core, if you ask us — GQ published an interview with Travis Kelce covering his highly publicized NFL career, and he divulged rare details about his private life with the pop star.
Fans have been told that Kelce and Swift first met after the Chiefs tight end revealed on his podcast, New Heights, that he was “butthurt” that he didn’t get to give Swift a friendship bracelet at the Eras tour. However, looking back, Kelce told GQ, “Nothing I’ve ever done has been a controlled, organized process. When I say [the start of our relationship] was so organic, we fell in love just based off the people we were sitting in a room together with.”

According to the NFL star, he and Swift “are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are. We share all those values.” When it comes to how fast he went from a friend to a Lover (sorry, we had to), Kelce shared, “It kind of just took the f**k off.”
In Kelce’s opinion, what makes their relationship different from those in his past is the shared spotlight. “I hadn’t experienced somebody in the same shoes as me, having a partner who understands the scrutiny, understands the ups and downs of being in front of millions,” he confessed. “That was very relatable, seeing how exhausted she would get after shows.” The tight end even went as far as to say, “She may not think of herself as an athlete. She will never tell anyone that she is an athlete. But I’ve seen what she goes through. I’ve seen the amount of work that she puts on her body, and it’s mind-blowing.”
While fans of Swift and Kelce alike are certainly hoping to learn more about their (generally) private relationship in The Life of a Showgirl, Kelce gave a window into who he and Swift are behind closed doors.
He shared, “When there is not a camera on us, we’re just two people that are in love.” To the haters and everyone who thinks their relationship is just for show, Kelce admitted, “It can be perceived as something else because of how much it is talked about and how much we are tracked whenever we do go out, but I would say that it’s as normal of… It happened very organically even though from a media standpoint it was being tracked. It still happened very organically.”

Kelce also opened up about how Swift and his mother, Donna Kelce, share similar qualities that he admires. “Their kindness, their genuineness, their ability to say hello to everyone in the room,” Kelce said. “Their ability to show love and support no matter what. And on top of that, their work ethic.”
He continued, “I’ve seen Taylor do the exact same thing of setting goals for herself and exceeding the expectations and really captivating the world in that regard.”
